Scams like these

... and another that came today.

Good Morning.

I'm attorney Phillip. I am contacting you regarding the estate/Capital
of your loved one who may have died.
Kindly contact me as soon as possible for more information and a claim.

Regards.

I might give this a miss also as everyone that I know of is either very much alive or dead and not 'may have died'

This one even came from an (almost) legitimate looking email address. -- Australian Post <[email protected]>
Somebody asked me just yesterday if a similar email from Post was legit. I told him it was a scam. "How do you know sir?" I was asked. "It's not written in proper English sir" I replied.

I have been getting a lot in my spam file from Kohls,Walmart and Ace Hardware from the USA telling me what prizes I have won. lots of cookware, knives, coffee makers,at least 8 iphone 14s and even an Emergency generator. The most useless for me was a Stanley 170 piece tool kit!.
As well as the usual women who have heard of me. Most commonly from the Ukraine,Colombia and Mexico.

Oh to be so popular.

I got a 'survey' today to see how my 'experience' had been. The survey didn't actually say what experience had supposedly occurred nor did it say which company had commissioned the survey. I have deleted it as even if it wasn't a scam any company that operated in such a way does not deserve my time anyway.

Outlook spam filters have not been working for quite some time.

Some of the spam received is beyond belief. I wouldn't be looking in that folder if it wasn't for legitimate emails making their way in there.

Received a call earlier from “April” (in a very noisy call centre) claiming to be from the “bank security department”.

Oh, yeah. Which bank?

She hung up.

They like “department” which of course is a red flag phrase as far as I’m concerned.

I love it when they ring you, and start asking questions to confirm your identity. Hey, you rang me, you’re the one who has to confirm.
Speaking of “red flags”… But unfortunately, I’ve had legit calls (usually AMEX) who used to do that…

I had a ‘phone call from an unknown number … waited for them to answer first, after a few seconds they hung up so I figured it was a scam call.

About quarter of an hour later got an SMS from the same number purporting to be from the blood bank, didn’t follow the links in the message but the info & the text of the link & the text of the ‘phone number were legit. I guess it proves my point about how if it’s legit or important they’ll get through properly.
