Scams like these

I don't have a Commbank account anymore, closed mine a few years back.
---
Got one from our friends at that "bank".
Blocked and deleted, but it was an "approval to pay JBHIFI if you do not recognis/ze this tranascation click here www.commbank*****.com"
---
From an 0488 phone number.
5 months after the ACCC anti scam centre was supposed to start, they still haven't made any headway.
Though Telstra have said, (I am not with them for the above sms), that they blocked millions of sms in the past few months.

Received a few more text scams this weekend. Forwarded each to the Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA). This is a quick and easy process. I have saved the ACMA reporting number in my phone contacts. Simply press on the text message and when the dropdown menu appears, select FORWARD. Then select recipients ACMA - Report Spam, this is how I have identified in my contact list.

The scam reporting number for ACMA is - 0429 999 888

Don't just block mobile phone scammers, report them!

Is it first, that we have to "add people", and then...?
Sorry to be a pain, but both my phones don't have forward, unless I am not learnered enough.
After adding people, just send?

On an android phone, open the text message. Press your finger anywhere on the message and options should appear. Select FORWARD.
No idea about process on an Apple product.

Tried, pressed hard on my android phone, on a test message, nothing.
Have got 2 Android phones sending test between each.
Sometimes, scam calls and sms will get to one, but not the other, never both getting the same scammers sms/calls.
Always different numbers.
Few secs back, pressed and tab, it was highlited, but then didn't want to.
Thanks anyway, Prozac.
Let my phone go to sleep, and brought it back, the pin code keypad to bring phone back from sleep worked tho.

Am too scared to touch any scam message!
I usually screenshot then send, @prozac and @AustraliaPoochie
Have a Samsung and did this for recent ANZ message whilst in Portugal.

Pity that we even have to worry about this stuff 🤔

Yes, ING has asked for a copy of my id when opening the account via Auspost document check, when I did it years ago.
More recently, they also again asked, but the email had my name.
Its shocking how easy it is to cut, copy, and paste logos.

Text message today, similar to another 2 days ago. Forwarded straight to ACMA.

Hello, excuse me! I am Amelia from One Shift, and we have recommended a full-time/part-time job for you, with an hourly salary of AUD 50-200! Conduct internal testing for some companies' online apps. Work is easy, with 1-2 hours of work each time. You can obtain a work permit at least 6 times a week. Please note that this job must be at least 22 years old. If you are over 22 years old and want to apply for this job, please reply with 'Yes' or' Interested '.

If that was word for word, I would put the writer as from a(n) EALD country/zone of the world.
The way that email was written, if I were to be the author, or the writer of it, I would have written it differently.
"You can obtain a work permit at least 6 times a week" does not make sense.
"Please note that the job must be at least 22 years old" also do not make sense, I would have added. "applicant" must be at least 22 years old.
"and want to apply", most people would put it "if you wish to apply".

Our "dear friends" at Auspost now work in the UK!

Just had interesting call from Virgin Money. They called twice around 2:00pm, then 4 times around 5:00 and 4 times today at 2:00pm. Private number. Wasn’t going to answer but answered just in case it was important.

They asked for my name but did not identify me. They said someone is trying to put a transaction through for $585 and they've been monitoring it. Finance.com is the merchant. They ate buying bitcoin. Is that me? Can I think how my card details were compromised.

He was being extremely helpful and friendly. He said they need to investigate and they will send me one time pin to read out to him. Do I look stupid? You called me from private number, didn't identify and now you are asking me for authentication.

I said that's fine, please cancel card and I will call back. No don't do that. I'm trying to help you. No you're not.

Hung up and called Virgin Money. No unauthorised transactions. Obviously a scam. Even the authentication SMS looks different to what I've ever seen.

So what is he phishing? Did they have my credit card? What was the point of the authentication? Strange indeed.

Possibly forwarding a code they have got. PIN verfication scams are fairly common.
But how was that code generated? If not from Virgin Money then surely useless? If from Virgin Money for a purchase then surely inside job?
