I'm relieved I can work from home with a dress code like that - I was wondering how I was gonna get access to the Qantas Club otherwise!!

I like the touch with "If in SPAM..."

Looks almost legitimate. Only two slight grammar fails.

Email address (sent from) was PayPai.com

Poor eyesight or not checking would have been very expensive no doubt.

"Telstra" have tried calling our place, a couple of times on Thursday night, and again a couple of minutes ago.

Something about there being issues with the internet connection in our area, and that a corrupted data file had been downloaded without my knowledge. I stopped the call there as I believe the next step would have been him asking me to remote into my PC etc. Not going to happen.

Hopefully that is the last of the phone calls, as it is clearly a scam. We had a service interruption a fortnight ago and that was communicated by e-mail.

The worrying thing is that there are those out there who would believe the phone call and get stung.

My folks have had similar - my dad tells them that it would be "impossible, as we don't have a computer"; the instant dial tone from the other end is music to his ears!

Who? A total stranger calls and tells you that your computer has been compromised and people actually give them remote access to their computer?

Why not tell them where you have hidden all the the money?

I was reading somewhere, that after the age of 50, your brain becomes less and less able to detect scams.

That happened so long ago, some days I am not certain what the next birthday is... An opportunity for some email authors?

Happy wandering

Did anyone read the post that was just up about a bloke selling fake passports and licences? WTF is wrong with some people

Yes there are scams that are not easy to detect and are tricky.

If some stranger knocked on your door and said they are a security guard/expert and saw someone trying to break in to your property and can they come inside to look around to make sure your house is safe. Would you let them in?

If grammar fails and spelling were indications of spam. Plenty of posts on this site would be suspect
(lol).

The other day, my mother was on the phone with some scammers from the subcontinent. I caught the tail end of the conservation. They were asking for a 3 grand payment for some ATO debt. At that point I put the phone on the table and gave them my best whistle (I have an ear shattering whistle) into the receiver.

How does this help? It could cause injury to the person on the other end of the phone.
