Scams like these

Well today I got an email from Dennis who has an $8000 payment for me.
But that was nothing compared to Tom who says if I can park the money in my account that he is to get out of Kazakhstan he will give me 1% of it.A piddling amount of $US248 billion.I think the bank manager might smell a rat!

Against my better judgement I answered the phone about 30 minutes ago, to the dulcet tones of the Indian "Telstra" consultant, who informed me, once again, that my computer has been hacked. Cutting a long story short, after 12+ minutes or so, he hung up on me when I insisted I wanted to phone him back to ensure he really was from Telstra. I repeatedly asked for him to quote my account number back to me or even my Telstra email address. The only thing he could quote was the telephone number that he called me on. He got quite shirty at me when I asked for his phone number and name, so that I could confirm that he was really from Telstra. He confirmed the number I should ring is 133 933 and his name is Eric.

Just string them along and make out you are a dummy and can't see the right key etc etc etc, extra chummy etc etc etc and they waste their time thinking you are a Wood-duck

We had this 2 years ago, someone expecting a parcel from NZ, got the email and opened the attachment - all hell broke loose.

It didn't matter about dodgy spelling, different courier company. We spent 2 days cleaning up the mess!!! :evil: :evil:
 
A lot of spam emails going around at the moment about a parcel to collect. Firstly Australia Post don't send such emails, they send you a reminder card. Secondly any email from AP is from @auspost.com.au not some other address. Lastly whoever is sending this and other spam needs to join AFF and subscribe to the grammar thread. ;):)
 
This one is from a new viewpoint.... Including a medium size pdf file... Left unopened as the sender's address is afribizconsultant@ ...

Absolutely agree. This one got me unaware completely. Expecting a parcel in the following days I received this scam email not even suspecting anything opened it and my computer froze and I was never able to retrieve anything afterwards. I was very angry with myself at getting duped so easily. Had more attention been given to actually reading the email I might have avoided all the whole conundrum. (Laptop was a Mac)
