Scams like these

Was on ipod so couldn't check (hover over the sender to see who the domain really belonged to), but did any Accor hotel members get an email earlier on today, supposedly about a 10 min online survey?
It was my first, I thought it was legit, but then saw "Dear Sir Madam"...!
I didn't open the LINK.
Must be a scam to start with Dear Sir Madam.
Just that I am a recent migrant from IHG Rewards to LeClubAccor.
Ta.

nothing here Poochie

I got a phone call one day saying I had left something in a hotel a few days ago and I needed to give them my CC number and they would post it back to me ASAP. The funny thing is I hadn't been in a hotel for over a few weeks. I asked what hotel name and they said we have to verify that it was my property so had to tell them the name of where I stayed...

Wonder how many people gets threats like this and just pay up?

It's an interesting scam this one: 2600 ACCUSED OF USING UNAUTHORIZED INK SPLOTCHES | 2600

Seems that the original 'ink splatters' were in the public domain as per Ink Splatter 04 by Loadus on DeviantArt

I like the original artists comment:

"Always interesting to read copyright claims, gives such a warm feeling in my belly. If they continue to harass, I can always wave the original paper version on their face. Copyright peepl are funny."

I also got two calls and messages yesterday demanding I contact the caller regarding my outstanding tax debit, serious consequences if I don't comply. I'm going to buy a whistle for the next one. It was a 07 number.

Don't get to excited about blowing the whistle, so to speak. Most likely a bought skype number, which is untraceable. If you use skype, go in and buy a number, you can pick almost anywhere you like.

And if its not a bought number, then they deserve to be called out. But, I suspect it isn't.

I often reply to these scams that the caller has a problem - I don't have a computer. (not true of course, but the call is terminated by them very quickly)

Surely the "solution" is to tell them "I'll just go and turn it on" (then leave them hanging......)

Scam alert from Reddit.

Perhaps just give up your commitment to crime first?

Feeling like a chosen one! I got one of these to my work email today.

Definitely unsubscribing. Court subpoenas don't really interest me.

I also received one of these yesterday. Don't you just love the grammar

You were invited to the court of justice by the judge because of crime commitment.

Do you think that English may not be their first language?

One could well assume that but having heard a number of lawyers speak, I would not be so sure of that.:) But one has to admit it's a very polite "invite".

India Indians do write like that.
Wordy.
YouTube videos where the India Indians are the culprits are like that.
You are to appear at (the) court. Or courthouse.
I would say it if i was the author (You are to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court), just to use an example.

When I hear the police news on the radio I find it sounds quite ungrammatical

eg the defendant was charged with...drive wrong way along one-way street/enter house without permission/cause grievous bodily harm etc etc

Presumably they are from a document that says It is an offence to...

They are from a "document" known as the "Law Part Codes".

I didn't realise a subpoena was just an invite. I had assumed it was a mandatory requirement to attend. As an invite they probably need to include an RSVP date.

The police one that gets me is: "male person" as in "A male person was taken into custody. What's wrong with man, boy?

You are right - it is not an invite - it is a mandatory requirement to attend.
