Scams like these

I got the same spam email from two different addresses this morning, with a slight change in the subject heading from "hello honourable" and "hi valuable".

We are searching for an person who is eager to take up remote job in the bank sphere that will require a few hours a day . This kind of occupation will offer you such evident benefits as:

• opportune work hours ;

• a chance to do another job;

• additional earnings ;

• an opportunity to attain fresh experience.

Because of the fact that our company does its utmost to supply first-rate services to our clients , we have formulated requirements for the claimant to meet . Nevertheless these demands are easy to answer:

• eagerness to work;

• assiduousness;

• adherence to the principles of work ethic; • responsibility; • accuracy; • living up to set tasks .

What is more , it is required that the applicant has :

• elementary PC skills;

• valid bank account;

• 2-3 hours available for a part-time job 2-3 | hours available for this offer If you satisfy the foregoing demands, you are invited to get down to work.

All you need to start working , if approved , is access to the Internet and your eagerness to work till the task is fully accomplished .

The occupation is home-based, which implies that you are able to work without rising from your chair . That also implies that you will still possess lots of free time to spend on self-perfection and a favorite pastime. And we are in want of such a claimant now !

Please, get in contact with us if the above-mentioned information has awakened your interest and you want to find out more about your outlook as an a member of the personnel of our company.
Sorry but I really like my job and like protecting my email address - as I can see if I reply, then they know my email address is a "live one".

Today I received on my mobile an auto phone call from The Tax Office. The number shown was 03 4309 4087 - Bakery Hill Victoria. Apparently I have a tax debt to pay and I need to call them at the above number or err, err, they will send my details to the local court house for an arrest warrant. Hilarious. They ended the call with “have a blessed day”. I almost feel like calling them to see what happens next.

Have since thought when do the ATO ever wish you a blessed day ? Is this a new way to get money out !!!!! Of you. ;)

You should call them daily and ask "what happens next!". ;)

I really don't know how Kogan send Cove an email offering sale items. I guess if I knew how things worked I wouldn't use some forms of media.

Similar to @Pushka, we got an automated call at home (saved on our answering service) purporting to be from the ATO sometime yesterday, 40 seconds long and goes something like this:

There has been a law suit filed against you by the Australian Taxation Office and there is an (unintelligible word) arrest warrant issued under your name. So before we move forward with the law suit, legal allegation and the warrant of arrest, contact us as soon as possible 61 2 9099 1691. Thank you

I soooo want to play with these guys. Because I just paid my ATO tax bill a day before the due date. But I might appear really flustered. Might play along to see whether they want me to pay using iTunes card. Wonder if I should send the saved voicemail to the ATO (have saved on Voice Memo)

*67 might come in handy to block my caller ID ;)

Mrscove has continued to get calls about a car crash. She used some language picked up from a footy match on him.

Amazingly (or perhaps not so) Telstra has no mechanism in place to accept or acknowledge spam (unless originating from real Telstra)

Just wandering

Been getting these for a while (offering telephone telemarketing et al), but only just twigged to the fact that the two today both used a .ch address in the link, so whilst they have always hit my Junk box, they now get the shortest attention span while in there.

I got a strange call on the mobile today; number 08 7100 **** wanted to talk to Jack,

Not sure if was a scam or not; just odd; I said; I am not Jack and hung up on them.

Its about the 2nd similar call in about 2 weeks and they answer Hi Jack.

I get calls from all over Australia and as work pay for them, I need to answer them, the bank called previously 0894** ???? and they are based in Perth, well the branch I deal with anyway.

When I don't recognise the ph number, I pick up and say nothing. If it is a genuine call, they say a tentative 'hello' soon. As it's almost always a scam call, their machine drops the call very quickly when there is silence at my end.

Bekiana has at least put a bit of an effort into her story.
My name is Bekiana kipkalya I am 24 years old Girl from Kenya. I want to have a common relationship with you, I need to tell you more things, but first I need your help to Stand for me as a trustee. My father Dr. Kipkalya Kones. Former Kenyan roads minister. He and assistant minister of home affairs Lorna Laboso had been on board the Cessna 210, which was heading to kericho and crashed in a remote area called Kajong’a, in western Kenya. The plane crashed on the Tuesday 10th, June, 2008. You can read more about the crash through the website:

Some months after the burial of my father, my uncle conspired with my stepmother and sold my father’s properties to a Chinese Expatriate. One faithful morning I opened my late father’s briefcase and found documents which my beloved father used and deposit money in a Bank in Burkina Faso, with my name as the next of kin. I travelled to Burkina Faso to withdraw the money so that I can start a better life and take care of myself. The Branch manager of the Bank whom I met in person told me that my present status does not permit me by the local law to clear money or make a transfer of money Into an account, he advised me to provide a trustee who will help me and invest the money or I should wait till when I will get married it demand by their Authority, I have chosen to contact you after my prayers and I believe that you will not betray my trust. But rather take me as your own blood sister and help me. Though you may wonder why I am so soon revealing myself to you without knowing you, I will say that my mind convinced me that you are the true person to help me. More so, I will like to disclose much to you if you can help me to relocate to your country because my uncle has threatened to assassinate me.

The amount is $5.2Million dollar and I have confirmed from the bank in Burkina Faso. You will also help me to place the money in a more profitable venture in your Country; however, you will help by recommending a nice University in your country so that I can complete my studies. It is my intention to compensate you with 50% of the total money for your services and the balance shall be my capital in your establishment. As soon as I receive your interest in helping me, I will put things into action immediately. In the light of the above I shall appreciate an urgent message indicating your ability and willingness to handle this transaction sincerely. Please do keep this only to yourself. I beg you not to disclose it till I come over because I am afraid of my uncle who has threatened to kill me.

Don't ever let your guard down.

Exchanged $1500 AUD last night. Handed money over and he asked me how much? I thought it strange as they hardly ever ask.

I counted 30 x $100 bills twice in hotel room this morning and put separately inside wallet. Went to breakfast then on the way to golf bar saw good rate at same exchange. Stopped and took money out and handed over $3000 but did not count it. Again he asks me how much and I say 30. He counts and counts again and there are only 29 x $100 notes. :confused: Hands them aback and I check and only 29 x $100 notes. I add one more $100 and receive THB and count and walk off.

What happened to my $100? I vaguely recall taking my eyes off exchange momentarily to put wallet in back in back pocket and that's not easy to do with velcro back pocket.

I hate being ripped off. He should be there to provide a service not rip people off. Can't say or do anything now as exchange is near hotel and I have wife and daughter with me.
