Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Flying tonight of QF29 premium in 36g, gold member with 115000 points in the last 12 mths, what does it take to get an upgrade, any chance?

Welcome to AFF :D

Did you request a points upgrade? (I guess that if so, it has not come though)

In any case: F0 A0 P0 J1 C1 D0 I0 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X7 E0

Who knows; I doubt you'll get the beep at the gate (assuming you have already checked in.)

Are 40 A,B,C good seats on QF1?

Long story, best heard over a bottle of red. I have just moved 3 NB offspring from row 54 to 40 A,B,C (QF1 this Friday) I assume these are reasonable seats, anyone sat here before? Is row 54 better ?

Re: Are 40 A,B,C good seats on QF1?

I'd be going for 40 ABC. It has the feel of a "mini" cabin. The toilets are directly behind 40 but don't cause an issue.

exfl.jpg

HJK are crew rest. I can't remember whether ABC has the cut out in the bulkhead. (I have sat in D and G and they both do.)

It certainly feels a bit of a way from the crowd in row 40. :)

Can I have my glass of red now? ;):p

Ok, thanks to Tonyhancock and QF029 looks like a good choice :)
I will be testing out 40A BKK-LHR due to some seat shuffling unless the upgrade from O class eventuates

Thanks, doesn't look good.. Hopefully the flight isn't full and I can snag myself a full row in the middle  Is there a way if you can check how full the flight is?

Can anyone tell me what's going on with QF107 on 6/10 and QF108 on 16/10?

Both flights are not allowing me to see the seat map for the last few weeks, but I was able to select seats when I booked the tickets about a month ago.

QF107 seems to have el-cheapo Y seats available, QF108 seems to be close to full.

Can someone please have a look at the seat map for me on QF031 SYD-SIN Friday 30 September 2011?

I can see seat map on QF website and the whole seat map appears empty. I have had 80K pre-allocated for a long time and notice that 80HJ are also pre-allocated. An empty seat map and they chose those 2 seats? I can see 50AB are vacant but one runs the risk of being too close to 4 bassinets.

Without even looking I'm gunna state that someone has paid $20 per seat to pre-allocate 80HJ. It's an "old" ruse - preallocate agin' an exit seat and have first dibs if the seat is not taken - or maybe 80K is the coveted one ...

Interesting thoughts. I can't see me getting an op-up on that flight and unless something happens between now and next Friday I will be staying in 80K.

For what it is worth on the last flight QF010 SIN-MEL I was in 80K and both 80HJ were occupied on what was a full(ish) flight. The lady in 81K (I think) was alone and managed to hold on to all 3 seats to herself for the entire flight.

Hi
First flight related post, so sorry if I don't use the correct acronyms.

I have a general seat allocation question. I have booked a fare (partner, and daughter - full fare) through a TA, via one of the 'travel expos' with V-Australia: SYD-LAX, LAX- JFK, MCO-LAX, LAX - SYD bot the internal flights are with Delta. I could not pre-select any seats with the fare, spoke to V Australia and confirmed this. I have logged in to the Delta website and my daughter has been assigned seats on the two internal flights, my partner and I have not had seats assigned and do not have the option online. Is this normal? Is there a way to make sure at least one of us is seated with her?

As an example the LA to NY flight is DL 763, on 4 April 2012.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I now have a paid ExpertFlyer subscription of my own (with unlimited queries), so I'm more than happy to check the availability of exit row seating (or any other specific seats) to anyone that asks (as well as flight loads (via fare buckets), domestic upgrade & award availability etc etc etc)!

Through using EF, I was recently able to book flights around exit row availability (which Qantas doesn't let you see online before you pay)... I'm glad I did it this way, as one of the flights that I was originally going to book had NO EXIT ROWS available (despite being in January next year), but I was able to book a different flight that departed within an hour of the original (both A380)... in doing so I scored row 79 seats on 4 A380 flights (MEL-SIN/SIN-LHR/MEL-LAX/LAX-MEL), exits on B747 (FRA-SIN) that are not impacted by a protuding escape slide (and aren't close to the toilets), and row 45 exits on A332 (LAX-JFK). :D :D

Best exit seats on QF 388 are in row 66 ... wouldn't pay 2¢ extra for those in row 79. (You won't get much sleep with people continually bumping you as they come through the curtain. It's not their fault, they can't see you.)

Having sat in both, I personally prefer 79 as I always seem to travel internationally with one companion, and the set of two seats together means neither of us ends up in a middle seat. Also, 79 is served first at meal time, and it's less likely to have occupants in the seats directly behind in row 80 on flights with lighter loads (due to the slight misalignment of the tray and AVOD - therefore allowing unrestricted recline without the possibility of someone grabbing your seat to get up, particularly while you're sleeping), unless someone specifically requests to sit there of course. I also found (on the Fergus McMaster A380 at least) that the 66H reading light is misaligned (shines half the light on 66H and half on 66J), and cannot be adjusted - which resulted in much less sleep for my companion last time, due to the crew moving someone to the vacant 66H, who then decided to read for the entire sleeping portion of the flight. Bumping in row 79 did happen a few times, however during the sleeping portion of the flight, there was much less cabin movement (mostly crew), and they knew that the seat was there and avoided bumping it (the rest of that cabin seemed to only use the rear lavatories), and most did not go between economy cabins.

Just why I prefer 79 - of course, you may have better reasons for 66! :)

Can I take you up on the kind offer? I am looking at an Economy to Business Class Points upgrade for the following flights (Gold Qantas and a bronzer travelling)

QF0082 ECONOMY CLASS (V) DEPART 13JAN12 Singapore - Adelaide Thankyou.
