>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Anyone have any recommendations for a business class aisle seat on a TG 747? I was booked on a A347 but has since been substituted by a 747. I have been allocated 14A on upper deck and without any status I am not sure if I am able to get row 11 or row 16 which both appear to be bulkheads.

I believe the flight number is TG471 BKK-SYD on 27 Jan 2012.

Any chance someone can tell me how many seats are available on my flight today in economy? Thanks

Business is rather empty, and there is only 1 seat remaining for sale in economy (but the flight may already be oversold in Y):

J9 C9 D9 R9 I9 U7 Y1 B0 T0 H0 K0

I've also noticed a 5% on time performance rate for this flight, with an average delay of 55 mins - so perhaps expect a slightly later arrival (and let me know how you go)! :)

E/F won't return a seat map!

There was an error message from the airline when trying to retrieve this seat map: AIRPORT CHECKIN ONLY

E/F won't return a seat map!

I got that same message too - guessing it's due to overselling? ... either that or perhaps because it's so close to departure time? I know that I lose access to QF seat maps on EF a number of hours before a flight

Well you were spot on with both accounts. Economy was full and the flight was delayed 40 minutes. EZE is an absolute mess, they have no idea how to run an airport. I had 4 people begging me to let them jump the line because their flight was leaving in 15 minutes, absolute chaos - yes I did let them jump the line even though I said it wasn't really my decision since I couldn't speak for the people behind me.

I will be flying a refurbed 744ER SYD-SCL on 9/7 and I currently have 14A exit row upper deck selected. I can however select any of the other J class seats and have just spotted 5B or 5J which looks very interesting as single only seats. As I'm travelling alone, these may look desirable? Do they even have a window? Does anyone have any views/reviews on these seats? According to the QF maps, LD has 26 seats, whilst UD has 9.

If you do fly in one of those row seats, please do a report. :p

I's be looking for 3E/F as they would conceivably be among the best.

It's interesting to see on the QF booking - 'select the seat' map that upper deck only has 9 seats in total and 2 bathrooms vs. lower deck, which shows 26 seats and only 2 bathrooms  ... this setup is different to say, this seat map .

3E/F looks good if travelling in pairs, and I would have gone for that if I was travelling with someone else, though 14A/B probably comes close. Anyway decisions decisions.

FWIW I am flying OZ 744 in 4E/F in a few weeks, which would be similar to 3E/F here but with OZ F service :p

The beauty of 3E/F is that no-one has to climb over or be climbed over if one wants to access the aisle. Aisle access is direct. With the exit window seats one needs to move well forward to cleanly access the aisle.

QF codeshare with LA on this sector and, like the JNB flights, specific seats are designated for each Marketing carrier.

The designations can change as it get closer to the flight. Certainly here, as I don't think LA have caught up with the new layout.

Thanks for clarifying the specific seat designation for each marketing carrier, never realised that until your reply.

Direct access to the aisle is a good benefit but I think I would enjoy the window a bit more, even though I might only use it for 30 or so minutes for the entire flight ;)

Can someone please help out with loading/seat map for QF23 SYD-BKK on April 25 and QF24 BKK-SYD on May 05.

Would be nice to know what the loadings are like and whether bulkhead aisle or window are available.

Wonder what the J etiquette is for downstairs J pax heading upstairs to use he WC?

Now for a whY matter, has anyone flown on a QF744 eg QF15 BNE/LAX & sat in the 2 seaters in the aft section ie rows 70 to 73. I've had a look at YASA avail & noted when looking at the seat maps a lot of the time row 70 is taken. Is row 70 significantly better than rows 71-73 & does row 73 fully recline?

One option was to get QF7 to DFW where 39J&K was avail which would be a PE seat provided no a/c swaps. Only downside would be having to backtrack to LAX for a KUP.

Another option was going via SYD or MEL to get the A380 however on all the dates I was looking at, 80A&K has already been snaffled.

QF23 seems very empty. (P/U/Z availability)
Thanks. It it so hard to believe that the flights are wide open. The old QF1/2 were one of the hardest routes to get tickets this close to travel.

Managed to get 40G on QF23 and only other seat allocated up front is 41H. And on return changd to May 06 and again got 40G on QF24 and only other seat allocated up front is 41H. From your seat map 41H appears to have a shadow on both flights so perhaps a high status flyer?

SO was doing his seating online for his upcoming flight to CNS. Within 48 hours as SG he could select 4A or any of the exit rows on the 737-800. For his trip in 2 weeks time he could only select row 11 & back however could select any of the exit row seats so opted for that & will have another look at T-80.
