>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Well, I've got a question about the new config Qf 747s. Mum's off to europe starting and finishing on QF 51/52, she's a NB. She has managed to select 60H,J on both flights. Now the QF seat map shows nothing for row 59/58 on the starboard side of the aircraft. Otherwise the seat map matches this one in Seat Guru: SeatGuru Seat Map Qantas Airways Boeing 747-400GE 3-Class Which seems to be fairly new, but does show seats for 59/58 HJK. Expert flyer matches the seat map that QF is showing.

Does anyone know what's in front of 60HJ on this aircraft? Crew Rest?
Is that Seat guru seat the one for the new config 3 class 747s?

I guess a final couple of related questions. She's got them 80AB on QF9, is it better to take 80AC and hope not to swap? On QF10 on the return the best available is row 67, I assume that's as good as any standard Y seat on a QF A380.

Seatguru is not correct - while I am surprised they have already made an effort with the new configuration, it's wrong.

The configuration is this new one: http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/744ER-58J36W270Y.pdf

Full AVOD on QF51/QF52 as in the 388's.

How far away is the travel? It's difficult to predict with any real trend whether a seat may remain unused more than a few weeks out.

The travel is in September and October, definitely too far away to make predictions. I shouldn't have asked the question, really.

Thanks for the seat map help.

Your mum would probably have a better chance of 80B remaining vacant than 80C so allocating 80A&C would be the best bet. Worst case scenario is having to give 80C to the person in the middle seat & they'd have to be a nutter to complain about that!

You may think so .. but unfortunately the one time I did just that, the person was not happy about moving from middle seat to an aisle!

What reason did they give for not wanting to do it & did they actually move?

Sounds like they knew that 80AC were a couple & just wanted to be a fly in the ointment.

She was just a crazy old Spanish lady. Ended up moving, but made it hell!

Hmmm ... I would have happily moved from 80B to the 80A window seat.

Did you offer her 80A?

Cheers. Seems obvious, not withstanding mad spanish people. Mum has actually made that change on my suggestion. I also see that she's stumped up cash for an exit row (79) on the other A380 flight. Not sure if that is the best exit row, but she'll learn ;)

[-]If 79, pray for her that it's B or J.[/-]

The C/H seats get interrupted regularly by traffic through a curtain who can't see the row 79 resident on the other side.

Exit row? I though airlines called these 'extra legroom seats'!

Hi All,

Here's a question for the Expert Flyer Experts.

QF9 this Friday the 4th of May, Y Seat map, as per below.

Its inside T-80.
There are 9+ Y seats available.
yet the seat map, shows about 2 available and a whole truckload set as "blocked"
Are they seats assigned by QF which a customer may get, as in have they assigned them preliminarily?

I'm currently in 53K (with a upgrade request to J pending) but I notice 2 blocked out next to me.
The QF seat selection tool, shows them not available for selection.
yesterday 53H was taken with 53K blocked. (shadow from 53H?)

Also there is a distinct difference between what I have to choose from and what expertflyer says is blocked.

Any tips as to what's really going on?
