Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Re: Upgrade O class SYD-HKG to Business

Can someone with EF or similar help (I have looked at FlightStats, but doubt my ability to understand and second guess it). I'm on QF15 on 13/5 in Y+. I was in a J seat, but on checking today, there was an equipment change, and my seat allocation was lost. I'm now in 36B with a free window seat ... for now ...
Am trying to decide if I gamble on requesting a points upgrade for this flight ... oh AFF gurus, whaddya reckon? I have heaps of points, and currently no plan for them after our family upgrade from Disc Y to J LAX-AKL and AKL-BNE didn't come through.

Re: Upgrade O class SYD-HKG to Business

The aircraft is showing as a 4 class sold as three, but a "Kangaroo Route" Configuration - you were originally ona four class "Pacific Route" (Hi J) configuration.

36A is showing as allocated.

Hi
Can anyone assist me?
Would like to know how full is the Singapore Airlines flight SQ212 depart Sydney June 24 2012

Business (J)
Economy (Y)

Thanks in advance :)

Re: Strange Premium Economy on Syd - Tokyo?

Im on Qf21 on Sunday 13th May 2012 in PE.

Ive been lucky enough to be in a business seat on previous flights on this route but this time it looks like Im in a normal PE?

I can see rows 29-36 on the qantas seat selection tool Ive got seat 35E at this stage. But the layout isnt coming up in seat guru.

Worth the business upgrade? It's 30K points

Re: Strange Premium Economy on Syd - Tokyo?

Seat Guru is not the great of a source. Try the QF seat maps.

I did notice that OJD did make a trip to NRT the other day. How long is it before it replaces the 333's on 581/582 as I am not sure if the 744 is back loaded on to the system for the domestic ops after AJ's announcement re the 747 and PER-SYD rotation.

Re: Strange Premium Economy on Syd - Tokyo?

The flight's close to chockers:

29K's unallocated - is one of the better PE seats.

QF97 Y 23AB seating

We are booked on Tuesday's QF97 BNE-HKG 25AB T-80 is at 4am tomorrow. Does 23AB or 23JK in A330-300 offer better legroom or is it the case that the bulkhead really restricts leg extension? It would be wonderful if it had the cutouts ala the 747s, but I think not?
Can anyone give me an idea of how full Y is? The next leg of our trip is with CX to Rome & we have exit row.
Thx

There's no cut-out in the bulkhead in front of 23JK on the A333 and I don't believe there's one on the other side either.

ExpertFlyer is currently showing Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X9 E0. To my mind, that's an extremely lightly loaded flight at this late stage. 23A is currently occupied; 23BJK are available.

Thanks Danger, would you mind explaining why you think this is an extremely loaded flight. I'm confused as to how how to interpret Expertflyer. Does the fact that the discount economy classes are 0 mean that there is only a few seats left albeit>9 and Qantas is holding off & trying to sell them at the higher priced classes?

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

Economy classes are not '0'.

In fact, since Qantas are willing to sell at least nine award seats on this flight (X9) then it is really undersold for a flight within a day.

Please read post #1 of this thread and carefully consider and understand the information available therein as well as the further threads linked to in that post.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

Sorry Serfty, I misunderstood Danger's comment that the flight was "extremely loaded" to mean it was very full and I was trying to reconcile this with the numbers Expertflyer showed.

What serfty said!

Additonally: no, the fact the discount Y buckets are 0 does not mean there are only a few seats left. It simply means that the cheap seats are either sold or not available for sale. Importantly, QF never shows more than 9 against any fare bucket. So when a particularly bucket does show 9, chances are there are more than that actually available. Basically, there are a lot of seats left in Economy at this late stage.

Sorry Serfty, I misunderstood Danger's comment that the flight was "extremely loaded" to mean it was very full and I was trying to reconcile this with the numbers Expertflyer showed.

Bugger. My apologies. Too quick on the keyboard. I'll correct that post now but, yes, I meant "extremely lightly loaded".

Thanks Danger, so easy to miss a word, plus I'm pretty wiped so didn't pick up on the typo & was totally bamboozled.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

Can someone please help out with seat map for QF127 SYD-HKG on 21/09/2012? Are all bulkhead seats and row 80 really allocated or blocked?

I called Qantas and the lady mentioned that row 52 is bulkhead but I cannot see that on any of the seat maps. I have chosen 52C for now and may pay for exit row.

The flight back in January 2013 is OK and have managed 80K....

EF has 50ABC occupied.
51ABC available. 51HJK occupied.
52AB available and you in 52C.
80ABHK occupied and 80C&I available.

Sorry I cannot get the format right on the iPad to show you the seat map.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

Thanks Bill.

I don't think 52C is bulkhead so I shall leave allocation for 52C for now but 51C is also an option.
