Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Hi all

I am trying to choose my seat on my flight but SQ is giving me this message - "Seats available for advance seat selection for this flight segment have been fully taken up. You may select a generic preference or select once this flight is open for check-in."

Is anyone able to screenshot an available seat map and see what is actually taken? THen I can call them and make a request. I would like to be in row 71, 80 or 81. I'm on SQ317 depearting Heathrow on 9th july.

cheers

Hello, quick question to flying on the top deck of the Qantas A380 LHR to SYD but in economy. I was going throught the seat selection and there are a couple of economy seats upstairs behind the premium economy section. Are these any good? Is there any advantange to picking these as opposed to down below?

I'm guessing boarding would be better and there would be less people using the facilites.

When the pilot himself prefers the upper deck, you are in good company.

35J/K is considered by many to be a good seat - if you could get it.

Next are 32 AB or JK.

Quicker exit than lower deck Y pax

36D is the worst seat - with a wall on your left hand side, you have to climb over 2 bodies to get out.

Bizarre that so many seats still blocked. None available to select at all at the time this was taken.

A month ago I booked my second JASA. CBR-SYD-BKK for 21 Aug, returning 3 Sept, with wife on same flights on a Classic Award (2 bookings - don't ask me why). At the time I selected seats 3AC (QF560 CBR-SYD) and 5AB (QF23/24 SYD-BKK-SYD). Just checked the booking to see CBR-SYD seats are gone and the only seats not blocked/taken are 3C and 3F.

Flightstats indicates (at least) 9 seats are available in J. Should I ring QF to get a pair of seats re-allocated?

If other can help without me reading the whole thread.

Have J seat and a Y seat on QF 63 4/11/13 returning 14/11/13.

Looks a re-fit 744 from seat selection for my J seat.

Have been fortunate enough to do F class for last couple of years so what's the best J seat downstairs and upstairs?

Whats the best Y seat downstairs (for my sister).

i am WP

Tks

Looking at Expert Flyer, 3A and 3D are allocated. FWIW, all of row 1 and 2D & F are unallocated as yet, but available to WP1 for row 1 and WP for row2 at this stage.

Thanks Serfty. I'll give QF a call tomorrow. I can't get to this screen on expert flyer with my free service. Is it only available with a paid service?

My seat selection for a MEL-SYD flight next month disappeared, just wondering if anyone may know why.

The plane hasn't changed (738) and it is the first leg heading upto CNS. None of the other seat requests have been changed.

Yeah, same thing happened to me, CBR-SYD-BKK-SYD. The CBR-SYD seats disappeared. See post 509 and Serfty's suggestion at post 510 to ring. I got my original seats reallocated.

I know I should have ExpertFlyer but I don't. :-|

Can someone please help with the following flights in economy? Interested in availability of bulkhead or worst case scenario if not available if exit row still available to purchase. QF6 is not looking too good as availability is getting low.

QF6 SIN-SYD Saturday 04 January 2014
QF77 PER-SIN Friday 17 January 2014

QF6 on 4 Jan has 23AB/JK free, while DEFG appear as blocked. Not many seats appear as occupied at the moment, and given it's around the silly season time, and currently being I9 but only M8, with nothing below that and zero award availability in any classes, I would probably start praying for an op-up.

For QF77, it's a similar story for the bulkhead seats. However, with U3 and X9, it's a seriously empty plane at the moment.

Thanks. I didn't think those seats would be unallocated with only M class and higher available in economy. The middle seats are blocked due to bassinet.

No worries. I don't think there are many status pax flying during the Christmas/New Year period.

Hi All,
I'm flying from SIN-HKG next month on Jetstar and wondered if anyone knew if 1F on the A320 has a bulkhead in front or merely the door intruding into the legroom.
I don't have a lot of choice on the outbound leg but on the way back if there's a better option (extra legroom seat that is) I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Regards,
Peter

After some advice on the 380 configuration for a family of 5. I normally fly Premium Economy so am not sure, as silly as it seems, what is the best option.

Two adults and three kids (under 10) flying from MEL - LHR next year (June) and returning in July back to MEL. All seats are open and available to me so the choice is almost too much (!).

My decision is whether these under seat foot nets are actually good enough to warrant using them versus the option of having the entire row 35 on the upper deck (35 D/E/F/J and K). It's obviously got the better leg room and one storage bin for the window seat, but I would be grateful for any guidance for anyone else that has traveled with kids in these seats - or indeed any other seats.

The company paid for my seat and the other 4 seats were booked on Classic Awards so it's two separate bookings - so I have to reserve all the seats over the phone as I cannot select them for all of us - just me. So when I do it I want to get it right.

Any advise most appreciated... Thanks
