Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Re: Seat Selection

Thanks guys. My suspicion was it is the same aircraft. I didn't think SQ had any tag flights in Asia.

I am booking some tight transits for 2 upcoming trips coming back home and I don't want to find myself stranded out of position.

Re: Seat Selection

2) SQ hub is in SIN so would logically return to SIN.

The only question was whether it overnights to form an early morning departure the next day - but looking at the schedules and days of operation that looks ruled out - the morning departure only operates on select days, and there is an inbound from SIN also matching those select days.

Re: Seat Selection

Re: Seat Selection

Can somebody check QF9 loads for tomorrow 10th June? Checking for a friend

Quick question....QF63/64 >JNB/SYD Are QF still using the old 4 class configured 747s on this route? If so then the fwd cabin is the old First will lay flats whilst business on both decks are angled?? Have got my name on 4E out and 4K back but should I go to 16A on top deck?? Opinion??
Much appreciated

The configuration varies from day to day. But as you have been able to select seats in row 4, it does indeed sound like you are on an old 747 with lie-flat First seats in the nose. The other J seats on that aircraft will be angle-flat, as you've said.

I would stick with your current seats, but keep an eye out to make sure the aircraft isn't subbed for a refurb. If it is, your seats will no longer exist! (In which case 16A is a good choice, but the seats in the nose are also good. 5B and 5J are also good for a solo traveller in refurb J.)

We flew QF64 from JNB / SYD last July on top deck in J on 747 and seating was not angled. We were in seats at rear and were very happy. I think Qantas updated the J seats at some stage.

There are only 2x non-reburbed A330s left, so it is highly likely to be a refurb. What dates were you flying/what does the seat map look like?

thanks jessicatam. It is 17 Sep. I can only look at the Y seat map. It looks refurbed but I just want to make sure as I don't want to spend points to upgrade on a non-refurbed. Of course I'm also count my luck here.

is QF24 BKK to SYD using the refurbished A330? Thanks.

Probably best to just wait till it's about a week out and check again. I don't think there are any incentives to put in the request early?

Hi, has anyone a suggestion for a strategy in securing seats in empty rows. We are 2 adults travelling Melb to Heathrow in economy in 12 days time and have paid for allocated seats. At present several middle rows of 4 and many outside rows of 3 are showing avaliable. If we take the 2 asile seats in the row of 4 or leave a seat between us in the rows of 3, how likley is it that someone will be sat between us?

it depends on the loading. I did it in May when traveling with my family to Europe (2 adults and 2 kids). Outbound, we had 2 rows for ourselves. Return, the plane was full. we politely asked people in the middle to swap seats with us, thus we were still together. It is best to check the seating allocation again just before you check in.
