Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

I've travelled a number of times in both 58A on the B744 and 45A/K on the A333.

At 192cm tall, I find 58A is much much better than a standard economy seat, despite the intrusion of the slide. You can fully stretch out your right leg, and the same can be done with your left leg on a bit of an angle. Even on an overnight flight it is more than bearable, and of course you don't have to worry about clambering over your neighbour should you wish to get up.

Have always avoided 46A/K on the B744 as it looks like the slide protrudes even more than in row 58.

On the A333, 45A/K legroom is similar to 58A on the B744, although the slide protrusion is a bit lower.

Will always pick these seats before any other (unpaid) seats in the economy cabin!
Brilliant, thanks for sharing your personal experience. On the B744 would you pick 58A over one of the couple seats at the rear of the aircraft?

Row 43 or row 60 bulkhead would be best on the 747. The window exit rows are fine. The cowling is slightly in the way but not enough to inconvenience greatly.

Row 23 aisle on the A333 would be desirable.
Waiting for T-80 to see if these rows become available...

There seems to be mixed reviews on seatguru. Lots of space beside the seats (especially rows 69/70), but it seems at least for row 70 there are IFE units under the seats making legroom cramped.

I've never sat in these couple seats before, but for the legroom I would definitely stick to 58A.

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

I am flying from Sydney to Dubai on QF8415 (EK415 EK metal). Qantas website indicates that i will have to do an airport check-in. I wonder if this is because i would have to get an on arrival visa to enter Dubai. but it is still strange as I understand that the on arrival visa for Dubai is automatic for Australian citizens. Can someone shed some light to this issue?

What Dates? And what class? Could be oversold and an upgrade possible????

Also have you tried to do so on the EK website?

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Date = 15 May. Class = Y but QF ticket on EK metal thus I just realise that upgrade is not possible.

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

and check in would be done on EK website, not QF one.

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Thanks Downgraded, it makes sense. BTW, does the EK lounge in Dubai accept QF Club guest card?

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

I was researching this recently. I think the answer is yes to the guest invitations in Dubai. This is based on the definitive "no" related to other associated lounges such as at Heathrow, run by AA, and the "special" relationship QF has with EK. A definitive answer would be good to have though...

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Can someone please help out with seating availability on these flights? I cannot access booking online and don't want to call up for obvious reasons.

- 14 May 16 VA1 SYD-LAX 25D
- 14 May 16 VA8 LAX-SYD 25C

Can I move further forward into aisle seat? How about bulkheads/exit rows? I will more than likely check in ~5:00am at BNE domestic so would have a head start on most if Virgin don't have international web check-in available.

Sorry not sure if I'm interpreting your request correctly but this is the availability I see as a VA platinum for VA1 on the 14th.

Are your dates / details right for VA8

Doing a same day turnaround. I would love 21C or 21D. Bulkheads or exit row?

And for the VA8 to BNE on 14May16:

If you mean VA2 to SYD on 14May16
VA8 is correct. 20C would be fantastic. Bulkhead or exit row?

Thanks guys. Not sure worth calling or not.

BH or ER?. Pros and cons for both. I'm leaning toward ER as its a quick turnaround transpac. While other factors contribute to the decision, ER means no one climbs over you to get out if you have aisle

Hard Yakka esp with the recent slump in the AUD

I wouldn't pay for exit row. Not at those prices. If exit row still available on day of flight one can request at check-in? Not sure if they would allocate bulkhead seats to a Gold at T-48 hours that are pretty much reserved for Platinum. Worth a shot I guess.

I suspect all the WP would have been allocated by now. Def worth a short.

Envious benefit of LTG, you get to fly other airlines!!!
Interesting phone call.

Can get a 21D on outbound flight SYD-LAX but that's not bulkhead? 21C is already allocated.

Cannot get anything better than 25C on inbound LAX-BNE. The seat maps on ExpertFlyer tell different story.

Seat map for SG
VA8 14/5/16
Correct. The first 5 rows are totally blocked. I suspect the flight will go to airport control at ~T-48 hours at which point some of those seats should free up. Could be worth another call tomorrow afternoon.
