Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Can anyone check which aircraft is scheduled to operate QF64 on 16/2? I had a preallocated F seat which is still showing (4K) however it won't let me Check-in online

Perhaps there has been an aircraft change since you pre-selected, as it is the 58J/36W/270Y config that does not have Row 4.

P.S. To/From airports make the search much easier for us volunteers!

QF64 is JNB-SYD.

I'm aware there may have been an aircraft change, hence the question which aircraft is operating the service.

looking like all business config at my end. I can't see which aircraft is operating QF63 today.

Not really. Thanks for your help though
That information is rarely published; generally in the days leading up to a flight all one can normally do is work out configuration from seat maps.

Such info as available was provided earlier today.

Advice QF93 Mel-LAX best economy seat suggestions

New AFF member and first post (be gentle with me) Are booked economy with Qantas flight 93 to Los Angeles April 10th. Hoping those experienced travellers can give suggestions as to which are best seats to try to snaffle. Excited at the prospect of our once in a lifetime trip to USA but a little daunted about such a long flight, so any tips to make this flight as comfy as possible would be greatly appreciated. No way our budget could see us up in Business class but any help with suggestions to make a good economy seat selection would be wonderful. Thanks

Re: Advice QF93 Mel-LAX best economy seat suggestions

Upper deck mini cabin is always worth a look, only five rows and with two seat rows on the window sides. Avoid 36D, as it's very restricted. Or maybe a bulkhead four in centre of a row (DEFG), 52 or 81, on lower deck (or 66DEFG which may be classed as Legroom seats rather than Exit seats?).

Can someone please check availability of bassinets 43D or 43G on QF127 SYD-HKG on 06 June? I'm told both are allocated already on what appears to be a wide open flight from the seat msp I can see on Qanras website. They have pre-allocated 60D for wife and daughter.

They have blocked it. Suggest not yet allocated , will require early arrival at checkin desk

Thanks Quickstatus.

Qantas chat has obviously told me wrong information and of very little help. They said all bassinets were already pre-allocated and were trying to allocate 61D, 61C or 60C for me to be near wife and daughter. Obviously that person needs some training.

Quick call to Qantas and wife and daughter are now in 43G.

Ive always been suspicious of any online "chat" function. Telstra chat is the same. I don't think they are of any benefit other than the easiest uncomplicated query.

I think you are right. Mostly a waste of time for people in the know but can be helpful if prompted to do simple things and save time for phone call.

e.g. link bookings which for me is lots of bookings now wife and daughter here.

I was invited to be part of a team that forms the online chat function. It's all done remotely and as you say designed to answer the most basic questions and make people feel listened to when you can't answer the query.

Re: Advice QF93 Mel-LAX best economy seat suggestions

Moody is happy. Just received a successful upgrade to J ... albeit on a 747 3-class. Currently allocated 16B upstairs (which may be exit row), but I'm travelling solo so it would appear lower deck at the sides would suit better.

Seatguru is no help at all as their seat maps don't match. Any thoughts about particularly good/bad seats?

Edit - actually it seems to be a 4-class being sold as a 3. Are the first four rows at the sides therefore good options (as in First Class seats)?

Moody, if it is a 4-class then grab the old first seats at the front. Row 1 is my favourite because you are angled enough to be able to look forwards as well as sideways out of the window.

They are also very private.

JessicaTam,

I took your advice about the old "First" seats, but picked 3A. Looking out the window doesn't really appeal to me, particularly after the near miss I had a few years ago.

Cheers,

Moody

Definitely the way to go... full flat vs angled for normal business class.
