Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Seat map will not show if there are no other available seats. In this instance, the system will instead prompt you for preference selection instead.

Thanks to you too. Just find it a little strange that pretty much all seats on that flight (late September) have been allocated (I am a WP so should have access to quite a choice)

Can some one please check loading for me on QF9 MEL-LHR on 8th June.

Many thanks in advance

Can anyone explain the vast difference (almost mirror image) in available seats between Expert Flyer and SQ's own website?

Flying PER-SIN next Fri 28/6/17 on a VA code share ticket and need a bassinet seat for my partner and infant and exit row nearby for me. Both VA and SQ have been very unhelpful, with both only giving me the option to select a window or aisle seat! Same situation for onward flight to CDG and return flights.

Expert Flyer is logged in with VA red and SQIs the same whether logged in with KrisFlyer (no status) or not.

Can anyone tell me the availability of Perth -Brisbane flight tonight in J QF 652 , might ask for a UP

Not sure if this is the most appropriate place to ask this question.....

I am QF WP (OWE) flying on a special RTW ticket $2250 each in S & V classes with whole family next Jan (5 of us in total) and am trying to get the best seats.

Trouble is this fare was an LH special, but TA was able to tack CX MEL-HKG and QF LAX-MEL with the remaining in and out of Europe on LH (plus we added a $250 AA JFK-LAX). I think they call it a point to point 3 continent RTW.

As a OWE I can select all 5 seats QF and CX (plus AA) but obviously nothing on LH where I have no status.

Having not flown Y (or its derivatives for a years, given work trips are all in J) I was quite surprised by what each airline offered OWE's in terms of seating options/perks, and wondered if there was away around this (and of course the LH issue - maybe the UA status challenge will give me seating options).

QF - Can select all 5 family members and move them anywhere but EXIT rows - which are additional charge for everyone including me
AA - Can place all of us anywhere and can place all 5 of us in Main Cabin Extra EXIT row
CX - Can move all of us anywhere, and can place myself in an exit row, but must pay US$150 for everyone else

Would love to hear other's experiences and how flexible airlines like CX are in say letting my wife sit next to me for free (if I call their help desk).

Thanks in advance

AdMEL... just call SQ and ask them to assist you. IIRC they do block out large chunks of seats in economy, available in advance for status. But if you need a bassinet seat you can call and they will allocate it. First in first served.

I have called both SQ and VA and, as I mentioned above, they were both very unhelpful. SQ said they were unable to book any seats for me, which aligns with the seat map from the SQ website I posted, which was obtained from a dummy booking for buying a seat a few days ago.

TG462 seat selection question

TG462.JPG
I'm on TG462 MEL-BKK this week in seat 66D. Overnight, the seats next to me, 66E and 66F changed from available to blocked out Xs. Does this mean these seats are now occupied, or just reserved by the airline? Should I change to another empty row to try to get an empty seat next to me?

Re: TG462 seat selection question

66E and F are blocked not occupied. It looks like a bit of load balancing going on. I'd wait and see what happens. Depending on ticket sales you may end up with the blocks sticking and 2 empty seats next to you

Thanks Pjm! I'll sit tight for the moment.

QF9 load and economy upstairs chance

Hi. Flying with my 8yr old daughter to London on the 9 this coming Thursday. Bronze, economy. Can anyone provide data on the expected load and the chances of 2 upstairs economy seats being available T80?
Thanks in advance,
Jason

Re: QF9 load and economy upstairs chance

Not good I reckon.

QF9.JPG

Perhaps a chance at 36D&E, but they're considered among the worst on the aircraft.

Re: QF9 load and economy upstairs chance

Thinking about it, a number of those seated will likely be status pax with points upgrades requested, which might free up some space closer to departure, so it's worth keeping an eye on.

Re: QF9 load and economy upstairs chance

Hi all, could someone please advise loading for VA87 melbourne to hong kong on Monday 16 April and return VA86 18 April 2018? Hoping to purchase (2) Business Class seats on the SYD-HKG flights, but can't see the A330 seat map, and want to guarantee husband and I sit together (ie; at least a D/G setting)

Many thanks in advance....

What is the origin and destination for each flight/day? Searching isn't done by flight number.

Edit: just saw the dates and it would be extremely unlucky if you couldn't have adjoining seats this far out.
