Should I carry on or check my wedding dress?

Has the link been taken down for the dress pick? I wanted to see it! Love a wedding. Dress, :-)
All the best for the nuptials and beyond....

My wife and i got married in Vegas last April. We were in J on QF to LAX, and carried the dress on. The crew could not have been more helpful in looking after the precious cargo, not too mention it was a bit of a talking point with everyone from checkin staff to boarding staff. Our FA even went down to F and scored us a nice bottle of F class champagne.

YMMV, but I would carry it on. We ended up shipping it home by post.

Good Luck

The boy in me says put it in your bag it will be fine.

If anything happens to it is just a white dress we can buy another one.

Now the Husband in me says "Carry the Dress on" as the situation that could happen if the dress/bag is miss placed is not worth it.

In all honesty it is a beautiful dress so don't risk it and take it as carry on.

I've taken down the link but if you look at page one you'll see the link in a post where I was quoted.

My wife carried hers on. Well actually I carried it ;)

We traveled PER-SIN-LHR-SNN on QF/QF/EI in December with bride and groom and a wedding dress in a bag that looked like that one. No issues taking it into the cabin. For some reason the security people in SIN wanted to inspect it and the groom had to be sent away so he didn't see. ;)

I have just caught up with this thread. Having seen the dress there is no way I would let that out of my sight for the entire journey. Hand luggage it is!

How long after 13/4 is the big day?

So carry on it is right? No way is that being checked in!

It has to be shoved through the xray scanner....hate doing that with my big jackets thinking they'll get stuck in there!

Beautiful dress - also agree with most to take it on board.

If you want to remove the link from the quote - suggest you contact one of the moderators and they should be able to do it? :)

I haven't read the whole thread to see who you are travelling with...but if QF the cabin crew regularly look after wedding dresses (and suits) for people. No way would I check it.

It's HA, fingers crossed for the OP that they are just as obliging :)

yep sure do, lets put it down to being a product differentiator, in favour of the Red Roo....

Miss B, My dental hygienist just was talking about this issue yesterday for her weddin' dress, whilst I had a mouth full of metal.

I see her again next week and I'd like to give her the benefit of your experience ... so how did you go getting it on the flight as carry on? I hope all went well. Did you just use the cover that was in yr first photo, did you have to fold it?

I'd love to give you an answer but the wedding is next month. My Mum said to check the dress and if anything happens we buy a new dress there.
