Should P1's and CL be "guaranteed" seat selection?

Mr Millie, you are on to it! I did miss out on the way back for one leg, but I had learned my lesson from the negative response I received for accidentally bumping during the night.

They must have wondered though how their seat was wet after getting back from the bathroom. :)

i can say with certainty that if anyone "bumped" my seat more than once, they be in for a lesson in offensive language.
But no one has ever done that to me deliberately...... I guess most people are pretty decent.

I know that I will probably be howled down for proposing this but anyway.

My suggestion is that CL and P1 be guaranteed their preferred seat selection when traveling.

So are you being open about trolling?

Why not just save this perk for the CL members? If you're going to do this, you should also allow CLs to be able to select a seat after everyone has been seated - i.e. when they board, they should allowed to just point a finger at someone "hey you, get out. I want your seat".

I would love to have this implemented only for the CLs, just so I can see the look on the faces of the DYKWIA P1's when they get shafted!!

And while you're at it, why not have them deboard everyone who is not a CL, whenever a CL is flying, making it effectively a privately chartered flight for all CLs?

I mean, why does Qantas need platinum, gold, silver, bronze or non member fliers? All economy passengers should also be made to form an honor guard, saluting all CL's as they board.

Averting our eyes, tugging our forelocks, and licking the floor clean before whistling Hail to the Chief.

I think BossReggie's response shows that QF already has the suggested policy in place - anyone worthy of the benefit, will have others bumped out of their seat for them - without having to ask. And unfortunately for Feper, he/she (hermaphrodite?) doesn't fall into this category, so suck it up, LOL.

What if a 7 year old girl "bumped" your seat more than once? Deliberately!

Just saying....

Then I would very happily wander over to the parents and explain, in fairly forthright terms, my opinion of their little darling's behaviour.
And we have all had the kid sitting behind us who kicks the seat repeatedly....
I reckon standing up, turning around and telling them very quietly "See that box under the seat, If you kick my seat again & bump that box, the plane could crash" should discourage that sort of behaviour.

I think it comes down to managing expectations. Our tickets are good for conveyance from A to B and outside a bad day that'll even be within 15 minutes of what we were promised. The concept of guarantees for CLs/P1s will open a can of worms with the whole musical chairs scenario.

I think that Feper's statement that some elites might prefer 63B is, to put it lightly, unlikely - it's much more likely that those flying that often (or CLs) will value their time enough to want to be one of the first off the aircraft. It's going to lead to a pool of elites squabbling over a very limited number of seats - "I'm a P1, I deserve 1C" "I'm a P1 too, I fly F weekly, it's my seat!" Do we want the front rows of what is still at its core public transport to degrade to this? Imagine trying to implement that on flights out of CBR.

From bossreggie's recounting, QF already do this the best way possible - by making it an unpublished benefit. Much like the platinum shadow, it's something they can offer their elites without spelling it out so conversations such as "You promised me a guaranteed seat" don't happen.

And the other thing with public transport - no matter what your status, it won't make the flight go any faster, nor will you be immune to delays or aircraft going tech.

You are talking about our very own Mr Hancock here. He will respond in due course.

It was perhaps a quarter of a bottle, as for bumping, it's not hard to do as you walk to the lounge to get a magazine.

If you actually did do this and aren't just trying to gee us up, I think that's disgusting and juvenile behavior! How childish that would be. I would say that's just harassment and bullying. What did the poor person in the seat do to deserve this behaviour other than being innocently allocated "your" seat? And to come back to a wet seat because someone thought they deserved the seat more?!? What is the world coming to when behaviour like this is considered acceptable...

Well said, but also be aware, the only one on this forum who thinks it's acceptable is Feeper
