Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

Why shouldn't they have access to the Business Lounge? They are flying Business. They have been relegated to a lower class lounge in SIN.

I'm not suggesting J Pax should have better lounge rights than a WP, just that J Pax should have access to a proper J Lounge.

Is the lounge offered not a business lounge?

So how about a Qantas Plat (or indeed Gold) taking an early morning Jetstar flight ?? - Will they get access to the SATS Lounge

I would imagine it's not something that's been considered - might be best not to make any noise about it and just turn up on the day...

(if SATS lounge visits start getting charged to 3K I imagine they'll put a stop to it...)

Here's another complicated scenario:

I am a Gold and am entitled to 1 guest, my +1 is a QP Silver entitled to 1 guest.
In March we may be travelling through SIN, with 2 other non-status pax all on same ticket.
Our plan was to guest in 1 each, now with this situation does that mean my +1(and her guest) will have to goto Rainforest lounge and I have to goto the SATS Premier lounge, essentially splitting us up when normally we wouldn't have to!
OR all of us have to goto Rainforest?

Isn't that the same as a WP and an SG with a guest each departing on a QF international flight from say MEL? It would be a case of everyone in the J lounge to stay together. So my thoughts in your scenario would be everyone in the Rainforest lounge if you want to stay together.

Not wanting to read anything into this but maybe a precursor to how lounge access might work in DXB - F/P1 in the EK F lounge and WP/J in J lounge?

Surely not! Arguably that would see WPs in Australia also relegated back to the J lounge from the F lounge given the committment under the alliance that the highest benefit will be maintained and matched by the other partner. BIG devaluation for WP if this is the case.

I have an early morning Jetstar flight out of SIN this Saturday, I'll see if I get access.

I guess any access would be a bonus as the QF lounge hasn't been open early morning for a while now.

I would hope not.
JQ 'should' have been charged for Plats etc accessing the existing JL/FL, just they weren't open in the morning, but were for afternoon Jetstar flights.
If these lounges are designated temporary Qantas Clubs, then one should have access when on JQ.

Well, they've certainly spread people around, at least for the next few months.

I've never been in the Rainforest (or SATS Premier or EK for that matter), but I note on the Rainforest's 'menu', the first item is 4 hours access, includes shower, and free flow of non-alcoholic drinks and finger food for SGD25++ (SGD5++ for subsequent hours). Then there are other more expensive packages. None mentions alcohol. Does this mean it is a cash bar? And if so will QP/JQ max passengers receive complimentary alcohol or have to fork out for it? And wonder how they (Rainforest) will manage it if is comp for QP/JQ max and not others. Yeah I know I'm singling out alcohol, but QP members are used to it being complimentary.

It's like they are trying to turn people off travelling to Singapore. Surely not a charge bar? More likely free tokens etc.

I doubt it. QC members will be getting lounge access so one would assume that it would be the EK J lounge at minimum. I don't know of any other lounges in T3 at DXB except for the Marhaba lounge which appears to be part of a meet and greet service. Otherwise pax would have to go over to T1 (not sure how easy or hard that is as I've never been to DXB)

The rainforest lounge had pretty good showers the last time I was there - the torrential rain type mounted on the ceiling. Food is ok, but alcohol is charged.
Never been to the SATS lounge, but from what I heard, it's actually not that bad.

I guess SG and WP can still access the lounges when flying on JQ/3K? The JQ/3K boarding passes don't have status printed on them. My year ends in 31 March, and having just reached WP, I guess I have a choice of the SATS and the QF lounge depending on which card I show at the counter.

Yes it is and given that the overall lounge position is pretty poor in SIN at the moment - if you were a regular J traveller (which would probably make WP though) through SIN you might feel that the lounge experience had been downgraded further.

but they've "improved the timings" instead to Asia which should more than make up for it :)

Good to see we have a date that nicely coincides with the change to QF/EK, I guess that F’s and Plats will get to use the EK lounge?? From the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] April.
Andrew and others, did you see any work going on in the area to the right of the escalators behind the glass? There were workmen / suits in there on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP]. I am wondering if this might be the BA F lounge or am I just starting hopeful rumours…

Hi Andy,
Didnt see any construction going on at all - but having said that i didnt go near the closed lounge. Suits everywhere though - all QF.

What exactly do you guys want? They are refurbishing the lounge which means they need to make other arrangements. If they bundle everyone in together people complain and foam at the mouth as firsts and Platinums have to share with everyone else and it is over crowded. They have made arrangements whereby some go to one lounge, some to another etc and still people complain. So the question remains what do you want Qantas to do?
