Posting this inside the EK lounge.....about to board so will post details in the morning.

Got an official date for the QF lounge.....11th April.

thanks AFF

11 apr was also the date the skyview lounge dragons told me when their agreement with qantas will end

Methinks "a change" is more what what true last week must still be true in the mind of the "dragon". Or - "she knows the rules" is the "rules as prior" to April:

The 'rules' were probably written around a certain expectation about when the QF lounge would reopen. That delay may have had some downstream impacts.....

Ok, went back armed with the links provided by Sickeningthud & markis10 on the iPad:cool: This time there was a QF agent at the desk.......the QF agent apologised however, advised that since the QF lounge was not up & running WP's did not have access.

I showed him the QF links & he again said no access due to the late opening of the QF lounge. He relented a little & said I could take a look........I declined the offer and explained that I needed to head back to the BA lounge & advised my friends on AFF that the QF website was wrong. He asked about AFF, so I showed him the SIN lounge page......he went pale & said I was free to use the lounge & my family was more than welcome to join me:D

He told me that the QF lounge is spectacular & the official opening is the 11th April........all senior management will be in town to cut the ribbon.

AFF rocks again. And good on you for sticking to your guns.

So it wouldn't have been open on the 31st last month anyway, given that the people who would've cut the ribbon would've been in Dubai or somewhere. :-|

We are currently putting the final touches on the new Qantas Singapore Lounge. I'm excited to confirm that The Qantas Singapore Lounge will now open on 11 April, offering a new standard of luxury for our customers travelling through Singapore

Customers will experience the best service currently offered by Sofitel at our flagship First lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, however it will be enhanced by a bespoke dining experience featuring Neil Perry’s Spice Temple inspired dishes and signature coughtails. It’s all part of giving customers a greater choice about when they dine, so they can maximise their sleep onboard.

Looking forward to hearing about your own personal experiences with the new lounge over the coming months. :D

Am sitting in the SYD Flounge at the moment ... we moved to a quiet spot after finishing our lovely lunch.

Sounds like the SYD lounge manager (??am guessing that is this person's role) is off to SIN tonight ... and will be at SIN airport in the morning doing "stuff". Not sure what, don't want to listen in too much. Talking about the big launch coming up ...

I look forward to seeing it end May. Hopefully by then any teething troubles will be sorted. Who's going to be first to post review...?

Due to unforseen delays, the lounge in Singapore wasn’t able to open in March as previously advised. However I’m excited to confirm that The Qantas Singapore Lounge will open on 11 April and will offer a new standard of luxury for our customers travelling through Singapore.

That lovely lady has been making regular trips to and from Singapore since early January, spending a fair bit of time up there, including to oversee the refurb and spend time in the EK lounge.

And apparently a few others from the SYD F lounge are heading to SIN to run the new lounge.

The lounge sounds really enticing and provides great incentive for me to try and hit gold by the apr30 cut off date (am a sucker for lounges) as I have some SIN travel booked for May.

As a Qantas FF newbie, is this a universal lounge (i.e. F,J rolled into one), for all classes of travel, with the minimum access status being gold?

And is it standard guesting rules, i.e. +1 travelling companion for gold?

Thanks!

I'll be flying SIN-SYD on BA F and by the sounds of it the 'enhanced' QF Lounge will have better offerings than the refurbished BA F lounge. And while I appreciate being given greater dining choices, the last thing I'll be doing is maximsing my sleep on the flight home. Greater dining choices just means more food to try, and more coughtails to taste test.

IMHO it wouldn't be very hard for QF to present a better lounge than EK. The overall look of the EK lounge is somewhere between Caramel & Fools Gold. They do have a view that QF will not be able to compete with.

FWIW the lounge had a beat of a corpse!
