Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

Qantas Club now go to Skyview rather than Rainforest.
(a much better lounge, and indeed I suspect better than the SATS lounge)

Some say it's better than QF's own lounges. I'll drop by the SATS lounge in 3 weeks time in the early mornings. Let's see if they've fixed it by then... anyone like a wager?

The original post was the 7th january yet it took Red Roo untill today to respond. 4 days later. To me if QF are serious about service etc then they should have been addressing these issues much earlier. Passengers should have been advised before the flight not after they arrive at the stop over.

Sorry but this is not acceptable.

Surely changes of such significance are not made in 5 minutes?

If they are then what the hell are we doing and more importantly what the hell is QF doing????????

At least they advertised of the changes and made arrangements.. spare a thought for SQ pax flying out of MEL, as far as i could tell by the email I received there is no lounge access until March now due to refurbishing happening!

They are utilising the UA lounge during the period.

Of course, those with lounge access rights for SQ would normally be entitled to employ the NZ lounge in any case.

SQ emailed its members? What a quaint idea

I totally agree with TonyHancock on the infrequent flyers point :) Double Status Credits are the bane of my existence :/ On the lounge point I think everyone is getting overly worked up over what is a temporary change. Now on Dubai, I would probably say the access would go a little like this:

Emirates First Lounge:

Qantas First Passengers
Platinum One
Chairmans Lounge

Emirates Business Lounge:

Qantas Business Passengers
Platinum
Gold

Emirates Lounge (T1)

Qantas Club

I think you are right but I sincerely hope not.
I travel in J long-haul but if relegated to the Business Lounge at DXB I'll likely give it a miss and go via HKG instead.
BA will hopefully have their A380 ex-HKG soon

I think you will be right too. :(

The only hope for WPs is AJ's statement:
Where there is a difference in customer service, we’ve agreed to make the higher benefit our standard.

I suspect, you are correct. If QF only provide access to the business lounge in DXB, I will credit my future flights to CX or AA once i reach LTG next year.

Though, I may get to P1 this year, I'm almost at 2100 SC's with 7 months left on my FF Year.

I think a couple if people Misunderstood my post, so let me clarify....

I'm not an infrequent flyer, I fly approx 40 sectors a year. I hold WP with VA and just 2 months into my QF renewal year I have hit SG! I am not sure of the remark about infrequent flyers was about me or not.

Secondly, my post was meant to imply exactly what 2 other posters here have said, that shooting the messenger is pointless. As I said, I believe the QF reps here to a very good job, but they are limited in their information, so the suggestion that they should of brought forward more information to the forum prior to the changes is a bit silly.

I hope people don't think I was having a go at the reps, on the contrary I have had assistance from both VA & QF camps reps here in the past, and am very grateful for that.

The comment about "less than frequent" flyers was not directed at you but a general and grumpy observation. Having seen the QF/VA Facebook pages I think not posting anything at all is the best strategy. There are always a multitude of views and someone will pick a post apart.....I have been guilty myself.

The reality here is that the information on SIN lounge access is in the public domain, and it is a temporary arrangement. Of the current QF international destinations SIN must be the hardest to manage for lounge access, with flights arriving from Australia and Europe at similar times.

Yeah, sand pits don't fill me with enthusiasm.

HKG wing FC lounge (opening soon) will do me fine:D

Yes, my email says "... we have made arrangements with our Star Alliance partner, United Airlines, for you to use their lounge..." and gives the location.

Equally however if I was a Krisflyer member who never flew through MEL, I would call it spam.
That said it can't have been that hard for QF to send an email to all pax in its FF system flying through SIN in the next three months.

I am a Melbourne-based member, so perhaps the message was targetted.
From my point of view, the advice was appreciated, as I am currently contemplating an SQ booking.
Even if that were not the case, I would not have regarded the advice as spam.
(Not sure why it would be interpreted that way, anyway.... Presumably anyone who received it has opted in to information updates.)

Or to email those with address based in SIN. But then again QFF send very few, if any, emails to those registered in SIN. Oddly enough, I started getting monthly statements once again when I for a few months (just to see what happened) moved my address back to Australia.

QFs other solution is to get a more modern website with RSS feeds - then we could subscribe to website updates that we wanted either in a RSS reader or via email with a RSS/email service.

Dale.

Seriously? would force yourself onto BA and QF MK1 J seats because of lounge access in DXB?

Sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I am about to requalify as Plat in February which is 6 weeks into my new year and I am concerned that we are not hearing much atall from QF. The fact that it has taken several days to respond indicates something is happening that is not good.

How hard would it have been to reassure us all in Red Roo's post that Plats will still have the same access as under One World?

Time to also look at getting top status on Star wonder if I can get status match? Any ideas?

Was going to go for P1 this year BUT as we cant get any clarification or indication to a basic question then its time to look at the alternatives and secure equivelant status on a * Alliance partner

Ansett, you re truly coming across as a DYKWIA. My apologies, but currently you are a WP and are not the highest status flyer, you are well down the list with a big crowd, once you come to P1 you will notice the difference. But until then please face the reality of your status.
As for *Alliance best way to achieve top status is to plant your bum in a seat and do the miles, then you will truly deserve the privileges that come with it. Status match and double SC only create false "frequent flyers" and forces the airlines to create even higher levels, hence P1

Yes I will and I don't regard it as this. If my benefits are eroded ( and I regard decent lounge access as a benefit) then I will look to maintain that in other ways. Daytime flight to HKG so MK 1 Skybeds are not a concern, CW to LHR.

Even though most *A programs have various status levels above the minimum required for *A Gold, unless you spend over 25k per year with SQ to achieve PPS or fly F, most of the *A lounges available to *A Gold are similar to (or worse than) the QC lounges. They are certainly not the standard of the Int F lounges (apart from one LH lounge in FRA).
