Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

Seriously? would force yourself onto BA and QF MK1 J seats because of lounge access in DXB?

Sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

QF will have (according to the timetable currently) 747s with MK11 skybeds MEL - SIN and A380 SYD - HKG so there are none MK1 options, just have to avoid QF81 via ADL and the other MEL -SIN flight on a A330. Then connecting to BA will be fine. I'm keen to start with BA anyway to try their system of paid upgrades often dicussed on FT.

Or take CX all the way with the Cirrus seats. Quite a few more flights to choose from as well.

QFs other solution is to get a more modern website with RSS feeds - then we could subscribe to website updates that we wanted either in a RSS reader or via email with a RSS/email service.

Dale.

Currently has RSS feeds. When I was doing RSS I followed the fare specials.

I think you are right but I sincerely hope not.
I travel in J long-haul but if relegated to the Business Lounge at DXB I'll likely give it a miss and go via HKG instead.
BA will hopefully have their A380 ex-HKG soon

Or they could do something like this:

We need to remember that EK's own top tier cannot access the F Lounge so there will have to be some changes. Plus DXB is hopelessly crowded they don't need every WP who got it through a Double Status Credit and JASA in there :D

Emirates First Lounge

Qantas First Passengers
Platinum One (Access for any QF or EK flight)
Chairmans Lounge (Access for any QF or EK flight)
Platinum (Access when in immediate transit and on the same ticket from/to Australia, Europe and Africa on a QF flight number and traveling in at least Business) e.g SYD-DXB(QF J)-FCO(QF marketed EK operated J)

Dislike (althought I am usually in J)
I'm with princess F, via HKG or SIN with QFs competitors for me. (should this happen)

Many options available & I suspect a fair chunk of QF regulars (like me) would prefer the HKG, SIN, BKK stopover.....mucking around with lounge access will just entice QFF to be more creative with the itinerary.

EK doesn't have a Plat equivalent.
If it intrduces a 4th tier (as commented in some of the launch materials) I would expect it to have F Lounge access.

While DXB is presently hopelessly crowded this may drastically change with the new A380 terminal
(I haven't seen any pictures of the new lounges yet)

So if I read this correctly, the ONLY lounge in Singapore post refurb will be the current F lounge, with the current J lounge no longer being a QF lounge? Quite a significant downsize of the lounge in Singapore.

Quite a significant down turn in QF traffic via Singa too :D

Just an update on the lounge situation - I'm currently sitting in SATS lounge. It's 4:15pm local time. I wasn't allowed in until 3pm (even though was in terminal from 1:30pm with connecting flight).

I'm on QF2, in F - so I will be heading over to Emirates lounge at 4:45pm (which is the earliest that Emirates will accept Qantas passengers according to the Emirates lounge staff who I spoke to earlier).

Confusingly, the piece of paper from Qantas which I was given at checkin said that the Emirates lounge was open 06:30-10:00; 12:00-15:30, 18:00-02:00, which bears only some resemblance to when I was told I could access it (from 16:45 to boarding).

Anyway SATS lounge is ok for now. Alcohol is average and limited, but the lounge is not very crowded yet. I poked my head into the Qantas lounge about 30mins ago - it was also quiet. Seemed spacious and to have good selection of drinks, though food didn't look that impressive (though I only had a quick glance).

IMO that's a pretty poor way to be treated as an F customer of QF, lounge refurbishments or not. QF had ample time to sort out proper comprehensive Lounge access for all their eligible customers prior to closing the Lounge. Leaving customers to enquire at the door of partner lounges and be turned away due to timing is an embarrassment to them. What a schmozzzle :( Looking less and less forward to my transit in March, thank goodness its only one way

Yeah, it wasn't ideal.

Now in Emirates lounge - it is nice. I'd say food and drink is on par with or better than, for example, the food at the Pier/Wing F lounges at HKG. Pretty spacious and not too crowded yet, though a few Qantas F pax/P1s/CLs have now started to trickle in.

In fairness to QF these polices have been in place for just shy of a week....

Amd in fairness they still cant get it right! It has changed several times and now the advise of the opening times doesnt seem worth the paper its typed on as that as sometimesflyer explained and he is traveling in F !!!! doesnt bode well IMO and I will be going through here in a few weeks and not looking forward to it. The on again off again on again revamp of F and J lounges started MONTHS ago and yet here we are still no consistencey in what is being said by QF and reality.

And certain posters who only posted twice seem to think we are all being harsh on Qantas. As one CSM told me at the weekend Qantas is or should be all about customer service and again here we see examples of a lack of customer focus.

Surely if you know changes are being made then you put PROPER procedures in place and make sure that the information being provided is accurate and representative of reality. Loyal customers dont like too much change consistency is important in my experience.

Yes I understand that but its not as though the Lounge has been closed unexpectedly leaving QF to cobble together some makeshift arrangements ASAP. Its a planned closure within a large well serviced airport and I would expect QFi to have a robust Lounge Access Policy to cater for their premium customers.
Hopefully you are right and its just teething problems but I'm not holding my breath :(

That's not good at all, pretty poor! This reminds me of the BA lounge fiasco and changing of the rules.etc.

I just hope this is not a glimpse of what we're going to see when the EK/QF partnership starts.. eg. stinginess with lounge access, staff not knowing about the partnership and getting denied said benefits (priority checkin for QF elites, boarding, lounge.etc).

Surely it is not rocket science to put in place Lounge access and have it consisitent.

CONSISTENCY Qantas that is all that is asked

Surely the new situation is slightly better than the old situation. As a QF F pax, I was in the new (old) (new) F lounge which was massively overcrowded to the point where it was hard to get a seat due to all the J, WP & SG members. To be honest, QF have managed this situation very poorly from the start.

Dear RedRoo, I'm just reminding you that you are still running F services through SIN until 31 March. Pick up your game.

I stopped short of emailing the Executive Relations team but I got over it when enjoying a drink in CX Skyview (which was nice and quiet!).

Forgive me for sounding like a DYKWIA.

I travel F regularly and I also know many who fly F as well on a regular basis these are all full fare paying customers no FASAs or Point Upgrades just cold hard dollars. Each and everyone of them (~10-15 in total) would say what I am saying. QF Premium service is some of the best in the industry and they are working to get things right and should be given a bit of lee way whilst this is resolved. In the grand scheme of things most travelers won't notice much change and most aren't there for more than 2 hours. Miscommunications always occur. As someone who is traveling through in the near future and who is affected by these changes I have the utmost confidence that QF will get it right.
