So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

OOoooh lovely ... must not have buyers regret with my Swift Sport ...

(which is almost half the price after the increase so not really comparable I guess!)

Guess it'll be going head to head with the Civic type R - though that's a bigger car.

For those who are miss the 767, 747 and 380, and happen to live in Victoria, these plates are available.

747767

747380

380747

Somebody has already stuck 767747 on a black 2019 Mercedes.

There’s a GT-HO that lives next door. Its performance would be worse than my Jag, and a lot worse than the previous S3. But, it’s still a GT-HO, and they aren’t.

There are some interesting “sheds” in the region. There‘s one bloke who lives just over the border, who has bought a new muscle car, every couple of years, for the past 40 or so. And each time he gets a new one, he’s kept the old. So, think of an Aussie icon car, and he’s probably got the one he bought new, way back when. All still registered, and in beautiful shape.

Sadly my neighbour has decided to reduce his collection of cars, so this morning I helped with moving five of them to a car carrier for the trip to Melbourne. Gone from the collection is the Cobra (which I liked), and his 67 Mustang. Plus two clubman sports cars, one of which was electric. And this, for something completely different.

Every now and then, I get an impulse to buy an SLR5000.
Am I the only one?

Here you go...

The cars I helped load up a couple of weeks ago:

Some nice things up for sale in that auction, I'd like the RS3100 Capri. Although the BSA with sidecar would be cute as well, dreams are free. :)

JB747 do you know what running gear is in the Concept 1 Lotus replica?

I’m looking to buy a used car for my new P Plate driver and her little sister who will be on her Ls soon.
Budget is under $10K. Must be Auto. I have been looking at Honda Jazz, Mitsubishi Mirage, Toyota Yaris. Preferring the Jazz over the other two from what I have seen.
Anyone have an opinion on these or any other makes/ models I should be looking at with that budget ?

For $10k you should be able to get a car with 6+ airbags, Stability Control and more. Those are the crucial things for a P plater.

Source: I recently sold a 2010 Ford Focus for a couple of thousand. It was the top of the USCR used car crash ratings until 2018 because it had those features standard, when at the time Toyota Corolla etc didn’t or they were options (which people didn’t take). That car still rates well but these days I’d recommend 2013-17 Mazda 3

PS look at this list! I don’t think you want to put your child in a Yaris... even a 3 year old model.

Budget is important to everyone, but I assume your girls are even more important. Try not to work to any fixed number. I put my son in a $38k car when he got his licence. I was told that I was mad, but 15 years later, he still has that car, and it's still in mint condition.

Yaris, Swift, Mirage, are cars that I'd be running away from.

I agree with the with the Mazda 3 comments.

You’d find a fairly new Astra at that price point.
