So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Trying to sell a car is providing difficult.. money just sitting there

I have a VW Golf and the lease expired in June on it and the trade in value was a lot more than the payout so I kept the car and will keep it for another few years.. It is only 3 years old... I couldn't justify the extra expense at the moment with covid

Yep, used cars are attracting a hefty COVID tax.

Pay out was app 7K versing 16K trade on a new car... Car dealer rang me and said can we sweeten the deal more... My car is a company car and if I trade it in for 16K I have to pay $1600 app GST and new car was about 50K so it was only worth about 3400 in GST and I also don't have a tax problem to get rid of that was the other reason it didn't happen...

Defender D250 base model with a couple of extras - towing pack etc.

Assuming I picked the right ship, it docked in Melbourne a couple of days ago. :)
And don’t forget….we want pictures.

As for second hand car prices…. Back in 2004 I sold an MR2 for $22k. A equivalent one out of Japan is now $40-50k. Should have just kept it in the garage. I wouldn’t mind having it back. On the other hand, the Monaro I sold for about $3k, would now be worth around $100k. Still a pretty horrid car though.

One of the options that might work for me is a Skoda lease. Any chance I could ask some questions about dealing with VW Finance?

I dealt with VW Finance but had absolutely nothing to do with them... All it was a DD out of my account for the last few years and gave them a call and sorted out final payment and all to easy... I would recommend them any day of the week... They do have web portal to log in to but haven't used it apart from checking payment had gone thru

I often think about all the Mazda rotary cars I sold for not a lot of money or the VW Camper I was offered what seems like not that long ago for just $4,500!
Such is life, we can't all be billionaires.

Agreed, Escort RS2000’s going for stupid prices, should have kept my Lotus Twin Cam Escorts and the 307 (yes 307) HK Monaro that I had, oh well it’s only money……

At least my Cossies are increasing in value, fingers crossed!
all this talk of Hk monaro's,
I sold mine back in 2001 for 13k. Prob worth close to 150k now.
Thats the wife and my eldest daughter in the pic. Daughter turns 21 next month

All ive got left from that car are the PUR327 plates, now on my 78 MG
