Battery technology is interesting, as there haven't been any improvements to speak of in quite a number of years. Some soothsayers suggest that we need a "step change" which may, or may not be around a corner.
Until that comes, it seems to be an excellent time to be "long on Lithium". The world's hunger for rechargeable consumer electronics and now electric vehicles suggests that global Lithium demand will continue to exhibit strong growth. There has been a sizable increase in production capacity, which will continue with approved projects bringing new supply online over the next few years, but without a replacement, or viable competitor to lithium-ion battery technology, the next set of mining millionaires and billionaires might come from Lithium... or you could argue that we already have the first wave of Lithium-gazillionaires!
