So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I have cancelled an Audi order before because of their incompetence and poor customer service and lack of following up with me in regard to a delivery date, that being said I used a clause in the contract to get out of it.

Generally with a new model OR when you pick some unique options they will give you a delivery date of 4-6 months.

BMW - Have always delivered well before the date
Audi - Stuffed up the first date, went to another dealer on principle and they delivered quite fast.. It was probably the same car that I had ordered originally though that the 2nd dealer took from the production line

Okay back to the T&C's from my last Audi purchase last year

9. Delays in delivery
1) The dealer shall make every reasonable effort to make the purchase vehicle available on or before the delivery date stated in this Contract. Where delivery is delayed more than 14 days the Purchaser may terminate this Contract

So there you go!

PS: If you paid the deposit on Amex ask for a bank cheque or bank deposit to get the money back, you can then keep the Amex points

Yes am aware of that clause. However they clearly stated the date I've been given as an 'Estimated' delivery date. So I'm not sure. Suppose it won't hurt trying.

Also I really really love the A5, but Audi Melbourne's service to date had been pretty subpar so in the long run I'm not sure it's worth the headache! The one decent salesman that I dealt with and whom originally did the sale has left.

Well you did ask for advice, and I have given it.................... (not trying to be a prick but just saying)

On the contract you should have an "estimated delivery date"

That is the date that the clause refers to, push them on it.

Of course they will play hardball a little, they don't want to lose the sale, but it's a clear condition of the contract.

If they still don't want to refund you the deposit contact Consumer Affairs or submit a complaint online Consumer Affairs Victoria

They can take up to a month to get back to you, but are usually very good and have helped me on with a few contract issues before!

Hey KT.

You really should be able to get out of the contract with the delay in delivery clause.

If there is no delivery date stated, in Victoria, it is not a legally binding contract.

There's a good chance I can help you with this. Feel free to text or PM me.

Keith009, I would pursue them with every avenue that i could as they are not going to meet the Estimated date of delivery.

If you really want the vehicle either come a to a agreed value on your trade regardless of KM's plus then pursue them for a better deal or you will walk.

Many years ago i purchased a new falcon company car and the delivery date was not meet within a week.

The trade in car's KM's where higher than what they expected by app 5000KM and then they wanted to change the deal because of the trades's KM's. It was then stated by our corporate legal team that delivery wasn't on date of expectation and as such vehicle usage would be higher.

Long story short was the deal proceeded as it was originally agreed upon.

To rub salt into the car yards wounds we had to purchase more vehicles and didn't purchase from them but we purchased from out of town.

I would also contact Audi Aust national office or even contact the global office with your issue

Ok great, thanks guys. That was the clarity I was after re 'estimated' delivery dates.

On the one hand I really love the A5 and it's about to get even better with the new shape. But dealing with Audi Melbourne is like extracting blood from a stone!

I'm giving them till mid Jan to commit to a 'firm' date before initiating contract termination.

Recently added another car to the stable - an X3 sport version. Some nice touches that make swapping drivers and adjusting seats easy to change, but the rear seat cup holder is a real PITA. Folds down in the middle meaning the rear passenger gets "boxed in" - not a great design at all, BMW. Would have preferred it in bottom of the console instead of that cigarette lighter. . . . . .

We (my wife primarily) drive a Volvo XC60 D5. I'm looking to upgrade to a 2012 VW 180 TDI Touareg next year due the arrival of another Ms YQY. I would love to upgrade to a Diesel Cayenne but Mrs YQY doesn't like Porsche. I looked into the BMW X5 3.0 Diesel but a replacement is due within the next two years.

Any idea what discounts and perks i should expect on the VW Corporate plan? Do they provide free servicing similar to BMW, MB, Volvo etc?

So found a couple of old pictures of the "toy"

Plates have changed since then, and a few other little things, but it basically still looks the same

This was at a cousins wedding, back when I had my other Statesman and Fairlane... I had/have a thing for LWB cars lol

Depends on your corporate status. VW are quite strict on the corporate programme these days.

If you have full Corporate Plus status expect so save a minimum of $7,000 + GST + LCT off the price.

I have the pricing for MY12 somewhere. I'll try dig it out.

Ta - that would be great.

So far i have received a discount of $5,327.54 (8%) on an RRP of $66,594.26. I have also received a discounted dealer delivery fee, $1,359.09 - all these figures are ex GST. They haven't absorbed the LCT. The GST component is not an issue as it will be a novated lease.

I haven't been provided with any discounts on the options etc.

When previously using the VW corporate program we received a 10% discount off the base price straight away, then options etc were open to negotiation but offered a roughly similar discount initially, then pushed them (a little). Following that, the whole package was further negotiated but really didnt give us much to move. Was buying an end of series MkV GTI.

Thanks - i just noticed i had a dealer discount of $700 as well ie a 9% discount on RRP. It's still short of the 10% you received. Did they have the GTI in stock when you negotiated the price? Mine will be BTO with a minimum 4 months wait.

For all Euro cars, the corporate discount should be 10% and free servicing for a least 2 years.

Is that an opinion or a statement of fact?

It's been hard to pin down discounts & perks of the VW Corporate Plus program. BMW, MB, Volvo and even Toyota's programs are defined in detail.

Audi & BMW yes

MB - Pretty sure from what I have heard too

For VW the Corporate Program is and has always been quite complicated.

It used to be a Dealer Delivery fee of 904.5 + GST

Corporate 5% Discount
Corporate Plus 10% Discount
Government 10% Discount + no dealer delivery except in QLD & WA a DD fee of $590.91 + GST
Diplomatic By Neg

It changed about tow years ago to a flat rate per vehicle depending on approved status. Some of the very low end cars (Polo, Golf 77SI and the Sports Stuff, Golf R, R36 Etc had minimal discount, Fromm $300 - $1500 for Corporate Plus.

In recent times it has become even more complicated with the discount being linked closer to the margin in the car making it harder to work out.

In addition Volkswagen do not offer 3 year free scheduled servicing, except if there is a special campaign on like 18 months ago on Passat and some Commercial Vehicles. The Amarok currently has a 5.99% APR for VW Finance and 3 years free scheduled servicing, but that is separate to the Corporate Program.

Going back top the Touareg question. You should be getting a dealer delivery fee of $1359.09 and $6201.86 off the RRP of the car EX GST. The dealer will not absorb LCT but as this car is over the threshold every dollar discount actually amounts to $1.33 off the car.

There is a bit of play and I would be aiming for about $7,000 + GST off the car. Half of the discount is dealer funded.

I cannot tell what Audi's Corporate Program is, but I suspect bossreggie might have a better idea of that one. I can tell you that Range Rovers one is ridiculous at best. Free mats and a discounted service scheme as well as about $1,000 off the price. cough when you consider the Vogue Autobiography is $250K +

Many thanks Rok. I have received a discount of $6,027.54 ex GST. The dealer delivery (DD) fee i have been quoted is $1359.09. Does the $7,000 discount include the reduction in DD fees? If so what is the standard DD for a Touareg?

Do VW discount options as well?

Thanks again.

The standard DD will vary from Dealer to Dealer and from state to state. Average for a Touareg is probably $2,268.18 - $3,631.82 + GST. Most good dealers will be hovering around the $2,268.18 mark with a few even falling below that.

I would be aiming for the $7k discount in addition to the change in DD. I have read stories from guys online in various forums suggesting they got 14% - 17% discount off the RRP. That is bull. About $7K is the max. That will be including a few options added. If you are going for a standard 180TDI with no options they may not go to $7k.

To be honest if you are happy with the price you already have, and you are happy with the dealer then I would take the deal. I was in the industry for 8 years as a sales manager with Audi and VW and I would not waste my time shopping all over for the cheapest price. Sometimes relationships are more valuable than price.

I think you have a good deal so far. It is a beautiful car. Just make sure you order the Area View Package!
