So, what music are you listening to now?

Caught up with someone I hadn't seen for a few years last Sunday, he was in his shed woodworking and listening to music. I said I know who this is, he was surprised, said bet you don't. I said, African, Mali, Ry Cooder, Ali Farka Toure, he was very surprised!

OK, something very different, not that keen on the song, but the lead up to it is very interesting to say the least, get past the accent, what a fabulous voice, totally unexpected.

This week in launceston one of the local stations has been playing this oldie at least once a day.Often on when driving.I liked it when channel 7 used it for the Moscow Olympics.

Haven't listened to anything for a few months cos the amp had died. Google suggests inability to turn on is a known problem with Yamaha amps and suggests a fix, which I must try tomorrow (if I remember), otherwise I'll have to look on ebay or off to Duratone in CBR.

All the big clunky dynaudios and a stack of amps and misc paraphernalia are staked away in preparation for rehoming or the bin.
I get by in the office with a couple of piddly little sonos squeakers and with a couple of slightly larger sonos in the family room.
I don't even listen to my cd collection anymore let alone the hundreds of lp's stacked away somewhere.
I started cutting the cd's to digital file but lost interest when spotify ( in hi res format) made the exercise redundant
I can find (almost) anything I fancy in a second on the phone with spotify , which is probably the best thing I have subscribed to in aeons...

Duratone had some nice second hand stuff when I was there.

I have a very basic Sony 5.2 AVR you can have for free, it’s not a true amp, but it may work for you in the short term.

Bit o/t but it relates to the playing of music.
Removed top case of Yamaha today. A replacement for the offending capacitor (one with the long tails) was sourced from Jaycar and soldered in.

Her indoors with the delicate ears immediately said volume was too loud.

Thanks for the offer @Cossie, however it was just a case of getting off my butt and attempting a fix.
