So, what music are you listening to now?

I've been really enjoying Jon Batiste. He has a great blend of the old blues, R&B, jazz - with a great sound.
I only found out that he did the sound track for Soul, which in my humble opinion (I hate abbreviations), one of the best movies in the past decade.

An oldie by the Stones. Can't help but think how appropriate is this with Covid.

And this verse should be an election hymn.
Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

Barrelling along the A3 Autobahn at 140+ listening to some surprisingly good music on German radio. On the unrestricted parts, I’m one of the slower car drivers. Nearly $3 a litre, sigh.

Midnight Oil, Beds are Burning.

Followed by Hendrix, Purple Haze.

Today I am listening to Margaret Urlich who sadly passed away yesterday. You all know the backing vocal on Darryl Braithwaite's version of Horses? That was Margaret.
A consummate performer with a comfortable live stage presence and magnificent soulful voice.

It sure has been a sad time of late. The late 80's/early 90's was over-populated with terrific female vocalists (Jenny Morris, Wendy Matthews, Susie DeMarchi, Deborah Conway, Tina Arena, to name a few) and Margaret Urlich was no exception.

I'm giving her "Safety in Numbers" album a spin today.

Watched this the other night. Quite entertaining.

Never get tired of Taj Mahal, good mix of singing and musical instruments on this, can't be easy putting these together.

Interesting quote attributed to Albert Einstein at the beginning.

MrsK and I being second timers have taken the next big step in our relationship (after getting married several years ago), we have merged our record collections. We've spent the afternoon playing records from our past. I picked Uriah Heep - The Magicians Birthday as a starter.

Love the theatricality of Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Been around forever.

Now that I've settled in to new home it is about time I resurrected the stereo and listen to some old treasures. A musician I collected through the 70/80's was Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand)
