SQ/MI Changi transit pax - Changi Dollar vouchers for shopping or lounge access

One point to note to circumvent the 'round-trip' appears to be to have ticketed my return journey with ticketing dates prior to the ticketing of the outbound leg.

In my case, all of my legs were one-way KF redemptions which all got ticketed at different times depending upon waitlist clearance times.
Staff at Changi $ counter in SIN explained to me that if your return leg is ticketed prior to your dep from original port then that renders ineligibility to receive second allotment Changi $s as we were receiving them in times past.

I think the sequence of dates for 2 x o/w tickets is not the determining fact Alby but I could be wrong.

I agree that I'm unsure what the criteria was. It was only on the second leg of my journey that there was any question. There was some issue and she said that she would let me have it "this time".

So many terminals, so many staff, i think there still seems to be some discretion. How much data can they see and analise given our varied itineraries, side trips and sequencing plus length of queue of tourists want to spend money.

We need more data points.

Re: S$40 voucher for Singapore Airlines pax transiting thru Changi to use in airport

Staff can clearly see all data - I questioned them and they could tell me what date and time I made the redemptions - if you got vouchers that you were technically not entitled to then good luck but I would not bank on it happening regularly.

Just picked up some freshly minted Changi Dollars. New expiry is march 2017. Website is not updated yet

Excellent, got a transit in SIN coming up in July.

That is good news. Returning through Changi in April. I was wondering whether they would extend the program again.

I know there has been some discussion here but today I was advised that from 01 April you need to have a "return ticket" in order to be eligible to receive vouchers.

I could be wrong but don't think 2 x one-way redemptions are going to be eligible.

2 X o/w have not been eligible for 6mths Johnny - 1 X o/w are still eligible if you have not booked your ret tix prior to collection of 1 X set S$40 vouchers on outbound - if you book ret tix post collection on outbound you can then have another dip for your ret to Oz.

SO how do they know if you have booked a return ticket. I have two separate o/w award tickets - am I not eligible at all?

I have mentioned the new rules mentioned to me from 01 April. One-way bookings not eligible for Changi vouchers on outbound.

I have a one way booking only which I suspect is why I was told.

Good luck after 01 April.

They check your booking and all information is in front of them.

Interesting Johnny - clearly they are clamping down totally on 'double dipping'. As for what they can see on screen they can see all your booking details - they know as much about your travel plans as you do.

I went through with o/w rdpt on 21st and received $40 - returned on seperate o/w booking 27th and denied as had already rcvd - my only advice going forward is keep asking keep asking - worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Here is one that got away:

S$180 worth of vouchers posted to me on Mar 14 by a very kind and cooperative fellow AFFer and which lobbed into our PO box this morn - 16 days after posting from Brisbane!

As I posted earlier never trust surface mail - they just fail to deliver!

Very disappointing for you CE. And for the kind AFFer who sent those to you.

That's sad but it does of course make sense. Our job as consumers is simply to use the rules as provided.

If we aren't queuing to get vouchers we'll just have more time to sit in airline lounges drinking good wines and eating good food while looking for the next loophole, overly generous credit card promo, mis-priced airline tix, EDR promo, Amex $1 transaction offer that's just too good etc etc etc.

Alby :)

I can't quite work out if my itinerary will be eligible or not so thought the learned heads of AFF may be of assistance.

PER-SINx-MLE SQ
MLE-AUH-LHR EY
ZRH-SIN-PER SQ

It isn't really a return on SQ (more of an open jaw really)

Should be ok if on the one ticket/PNR.

I am not sure how a series of one-ways will be treated under the new rules. Think they won't be eligible.

All on separate tickets unfortunately.

The SIN-MLE flight is not until late in the evening so I should have plenty of time in Changi to line up and ask.
