Re: S$40 voucher for Singapore Airlines pax transiting thru Changi to use in airport

We are transiting through Singapore on the 18th Feb. with 4 Pax. We also have a SQ voucher for $150. I am wondering if we could add all these up and use for a new iPad we have been thinking about getting. Saying this I think the SQ voucher can only be used at the Krisflyer shop. (not home at the moment so can't check) Can the Changi vouchers be used at the Krisflyer shop?

SQ voucher certainly can't be used in conjunction Changi $ promo - and remember transits now only 1 set Changi $ Vouchers even if booked separate tix and your return is booked pre your dep. Also remember long haul transits receive 2 x $20 vouchers but 1 voucher can only be redeemed on Perfume / Cosmetics / Alcohol / Tobacco - other one can be used almost any outlet in Changi.

Thanks Cruiser...

So are you saying that even though there are four of us we will only receive 1 x set of vouchers? We are travelling on 2 separate bookings with a stop over in Singapore on the way back. Knowing that we have to collect the vouchers on the way over can we use the vouchers on our return leg despite it not being a stop over? Also I am assuming China is not considered long haul?

Thanks again...

You will get 1 x set vouchers each ticket - you can use them anytime you like up until expiration date of offer - March 31 ATPIT.

Yes China is eligible - long haul was my term - not sure exactly how it is classified in this case - under 5hrs I believe but not 100% - MNL / KUL /DPS etc only 1 x $20 voucher.

Hi CE and others. Family UXB are off to coughet on SQ and MI on the weekend for a family wedding. I do recollect in the older t's and c's seeing something about $20 only for some destinations and $40 for long haul but this seems to now have vanished. Anyone any further experiences on the $20 only voucher and if so which one do they give you the cosmetic/ liquor one or the general one?

Cheers Danger UXB

Single $20 voucher is the general one - I am pretty sure the $20 single voucher for short haul still in play but have not transited short sector last 12mths co can't answer definitively. Given they have clamped on the 2 x for 2 separate out / in bookings I can't imagine they would have upped the short flts to 2 but I might be wrong.

The S$40 vouchers go to these depending upon origin and nationality:
Redeem a Changi Dollar Voucher (CDV) worth S$40 when you transit through Changi Airport on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir customers whose point of origin, as stated in their e-tickets, is either Europe, Africa, China (Mainland), India, Indonesia, Australia or New Zealand. Eligible are passengers from the following countries:
Australia, China (Mainland), Denmark, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

The other transits are worth S$20.

I am so looking forward to seeing how they handle my three one way transits all through SIN, all on different redemptions.

Happy travels.

Yes it will be interesting - if current policy applied BNE-MNL or MNL-BNE will earn $20 but not both sectors - CEB-DEL NFI - good luck - I hope you get $40 all 3 sectors but I would not be overly hopeful if I was you.

Thanks for input from Cruiser etal...

However I have just remembered. Even though our ticket was booked as a through flight I have just remembered that it is in fact a 19 hour layover which I guess means we won't qualify for the vouchers. That's because we are connecting to a Silkair flight to Chengdu. In other words it was a forced layover (so to speak) Do you think we will still get the vouchers of will it be a no go? Ta...

That's exactly what qualifies you for the voucher, connecting SQ/MI or SQ/SQ or MI/SQ or MI/MI with layover less than 24 hours. Stopovers (ie >24 hrs) do not qualify.

Enjoy the journey (and the vouchers.)

Ok great... thanks for that.

Re: S$40 voucher for Singapore Airlines pax transiting thru Changi to use in airport

Ok I can confirm. Changi dollars for MEL to coughet on sq/ mi and the full $40 for each pax. Only tried to claim on the return trip as very short transit outbound

There has been a couple subtle changes to the Changi $ promo which should not impact too many AFFers - flts with original dep from USA and Brazil ports with transit through SIN no longer edible for promo.

I actually cashed in S$260 worth of vouchers in SIN yesterday:

image.jpg

I was desperately searching alcohol section to get some value - settled on these 3 limited edition Veuve gift packs priced at S$86.20 ea - priced too high but the packaging is superb - they will make perfect gifts for milestone bdays so they can just sit in the cellar til one pops up.

image.jpg

Total all came to S$258.60 - S$1.40 will be forfeited unless you can buy something cheap - 3botts Champs brings me right to the 2.25L max so took a punt on that little 50ml Absolut Citron front left @ S$4.70 - told Cruiserette here is your gift honey - she didn't see the funny side at all - go figure.

Looks like I may have CNX-SIN-MNL flights next month with transit <24 hours. Is this eligible for any Changi Dollar vouchers?

And later on I will be looking at HKG-SIN-BKK and return. Assuming these aren't eligible either?

Despite starting this thread over 2 years ago, I have at last managed to receive some some vouchers under the promo! (Don't do too many <24 hr transits as I live in SIN).

I managed to get the vouchers in conjunction with separate ticket "connections" (<24hr), due to work trips backing onto personal trips. So DAC-SIN/SIN-MEL got me $20 and SYD-SIN/SIN-cough got me $40. Each sector on separate tickets. Unfortunately my MEL-SIN/SIN-DAC didn't work as MEL-SIN was UA redemption, so therefore issued on UA ticket.

BNE - MNL Y
CEB - DEL Y
BLR - BNE J

All on different bookings.
I completed this journey over the last few weeks. I can report that I was successful in obtaining the Changi dollars for each leg. It was only $20 for the CEB-BLR leg.

One point to note to circumvent the 'round-trip' appears to be to have ticketed my return journey with ticketing dates prior to the ticketing of the outbound leg.

In my case, all of my legs were one-way KF redemptions which all got ticketed at different times depending upon waitlist clearance times.
