SQ offering status without flying

I was worried about exactly this scenario (or the system saying that new status on the first of a month would expire on the last day of the 12th month as that would be exactly a year. So I have been holding off on my transfer until the morrow.

I also transferred some CC points to KF today and note the same dates on my statement. Odd that a transfer on 1 Feb would show up on the KF statement as 31 Jan.

American Express?

Would someone be able to remind me of the value of SQ Gold as I have not travelled with SQ in over 2 years. I have been following this thread for a while and am wondering what value if any I will gain by transferring CC points to SQ to retain gold. I am and have been SQ*G for a number of years and have never seen any real benefit as when I travel with SQ it is in J or F (revenue or points) so priority checkin lounge access are a given. My understanding are the real benefits with SQ are at the PPS or Solitaire levels which are based on spend and have no relevance to *A benefits. Don't get me wrong as I am a big fan of SQ but dislike the 3 year hard miles expiry and I try to keep these to a minimum through use and top ups as required. I also see little difference when searching for rewards via my account (SQ*G) or MrsM (KF) account. I am just trying to weigh up if sending points to KF is of any real value.

If you're always flying J then not much, except the extra 6 months extension if you pay to extend your points.

Maybe some benefits with partner Airlines too?

The expiry is my main reason personally

Edit: some perks with virgin domestic if you have SQ status, lounge and priority check in.

@daft009 and @lovetravellingoz thanks for the replies and I understand the extension reason. I had forgotten about this and get why this would be valuable to some. Being SQ Gold I already had access to this and may have had to use it however I have been able to book x2 J BNE-SIN-YVR-SEA and x3 J EWR-SIN-ADL for later this year. I did have to send around 5000 miles to KF however after booking my balance is now zero. I was just trying to weigh up if there was any benefit to myself in sending more miles to KF to retain Gold. I was aware of the VA benefits however this is of no consequence as I am VA WP. That been said I suspect my days of being SQ Gold are coming to an end and suspect I will drop to Silver in either May or June.

There is no point in going out of your way to attain airline status that you won't use - especially an airline that no longer issues pretty luggage tags.

so who's going for another 250k to extend gold till Feb 2024?

According to this Point Hacks article which was posted on January 18 "Unlock 2 years of KrisFlyer Gold without flying" SQ are offering a 12 month status extension so we should have it extended automatically to February 2024.

"Better yet, this offer stacks with a bonus 12-month status extension! So if you transfer 500,000 American Express Membership Rewards points over to KrisFlyer, you’ll pocket 250,000 spendable miles and a free upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite Gold! And since your membership end date will be February 2023, you’ll then be eligible for a further 12-month extension to February 2024."

Hi, I'm currently holding Silver Krisflyer, do I need to transfer 125k miles or 250k miles to be eligible for gold upgrade?

I would transfer 125k miles and see if you are upgraded to Gold. If not you still have time to transfer the extra 125k before the end of February.

Edit: I don't have much experience yet with KrisFlyer so others may think differently but looking closer at your screen shot I see that you need 25k more Elite miles by 28 Feb 2022 to requalify for Silver so you would need to transfer 250k by then to receive 50k Elite miles to qualify for Gold. If you only transfer 125k I think that would only requalify you for Silver.

So my situation is that i was KF Silver with an expiration date of 31st Jan 2022.
I transferred from Amex enough points to equal 250,000 Kris Flyer miles in early Jan 2022 and therefore was upgraded to Gold under the "Conversion of bank points to KrisFlyer miles promotion" with my KF Gold now showing as until 31st Jan 2023.

As i understand it under the recent announcement on status extensions i will be Gold until 31st Jan 2024.

If i transfer enough AMEX points before the 28th Feb 2022 to trigger the "Conversion of bank points to KrisFlyer miles" promotion again will these Elite Miles earned roll over on 31st Jan 2023 into my 2024 year and then mean i will have requalified and have KF gold until 31st Jan 2025?

thanks guys

If I need to transfer 250k miles. I think I'm gonna skip this opportunity for gold upgrade.
I still have 600k kf points that's gonna expire next year.
And I don't want to transfer now and start another 3 years expiry date. Amex got no expired point which is suitable for my situation at the moment.
