Out of curiosity, did you find that you had greater, or just the same, redemption choice/availability as soon as you had Gold Status?

PS At this stage I will take up the offer late Feb to get the full year as I am unlikely to get any benefit from the status before then anyway.

As I normally redeem in a higher class I am not sure I will gain much from it. It might be handy for some intra-Europe flights Y though.

One minor perk will be to clean up my nominees as Gold can delete nominees for free. And the extension of points may be handy, though I think I should be ok.

Will have to think about this as I already have over a million KF miles in my account with the clock ticking! Is St George Amplify a partner for this promo? If so I could flick 500K Ampify points to get 250K KF miles in late February to get Elite Gold. My only concern is my award flights may have to be cancelled due to Covid again and I will have too many KF points in my account with a fast approaching expiry date!

I am now seriously considering this as I have enough MR points to easily get 250000 KF miles.As well I have reduced my account dramatically with 4 J saver awards between BNE and SIN.Two F saver awards SIN-FRA,4 J saver awards on the 380 between SIN and LHR and last 2 J saver awards HND-SIN.
First flight not until March so will transfer just before the promotion ends.

What chances of SYD/JFK F return?

FWIW I was Elite Gold for an extended period pre discovering AFF and subsequently implementing learned strategies to secure pointy end travel.

i dId ~100 odd MEL-Sino flts in Y - EG status gave me Lounge access - KF J in MEL / *Gold in SIN / J Lounge in PEK or PVG and a guest when flying Y which was a good bonus when flying multi sector flts.

I rcvd several Y->J upgrades but only when Y cabin oversold. Upgrades are always handed out in order of status. I once had a J~>F upgrade SIN-MEL handed to me when I was on a rdpt itinerary on same flt where a mate with no status was travelling J on a commercial tix missed out. Again upgraded due to status

Never did I notice any preferential treatment re availability or release of rdpt inventory being EG - preferential treatment in this matter only came about after building rships with KF call ctr staff due to sheer weight of contact trying to secure release of J / F WL after I had the bank of pts to work with.

I still hold basic KF status and just have not cared about seeking higher level due to years and years of pointy end travel via rdpts. But if anybody sees a benefit in higher status that is basically given away via a pts transfer then I would say go for it.

I'm only looking at it to help extend my expiring points come mid next year.. gets you 12 month extra expiry rather than 6 for no status when you pay with points for an extension..

My guess will be no if you mean in helping to achieve the required 250K as it is SQ adding the 15% and not the bank you are transferring from. Though yes if you mean getting both benefits (Elite Gold plus the 15%).

So if you transfer say 220K you will end up with 253K extra in KF points, but will still only have transferred 220 K from a bank in.


You could of course transfer enough to test if it does, and if not transfer more.

You can earn in different ways, but for points from banks they need to achieve the minimum of 10K of Krisflyer points per transaction. So no to a 900 MR point transfer.

FAQ on 'Unlock Status Credits without Flying' campaign​

11/ Will I be able to combine multiple bank partner points conversion to make up the minimum of 10,000 KrisFlyer to qualify for this campaign?

Each bank transaction will require a minimum of 10,000 KrisFlyer miles converted in a single transaction to qualify for this campaign.

For example:

• If you convert 9,000 miles from Bank X and 1,000 miles from Bank Y, both transactions will not qualify.
• If you convert 10,000 miles from Bank X and 9,999 miles from Bank Y, your Bank X transaction will qualify but not your Bank Y transaction.
• If you convert 10,000 miles from Bank X and 10,500 miles from Bank Y, both transactions will qualify and a total of 20,500 miles will be considered for the PPS Value or Elite miles award.
