Nothing wrong with the PP Dnata lounge apart from local travelers talking loudly at their phones and Buddhist Monks. Yes, I suppose other travelers can talk loudly at their mobiles in SKL too and there is nothing wrong with Buddhist Monks but how can they afford a business lounge? Don't they eschew the trappings of wealth? Just one of life's little mysteries I guess.

They eschew personal wealth. Doesn't mean their order isn't well financed and able to book them premium travel.

Some help needed O wise ones...........

My partner and I have F HND SIN two night stopover and then F SIN SYD redeemed from my KrisFlyer account all on the one PNR, booked at the discounted rate and we paid for the stopover.

We'd like an extra night in SIN and a search online showed only one seat available in F for the new date.

A search on Expedia for the flight we want showed 6 seats available in F (not sure how reliable that info is though). I called SQ today hoping they might open up a second seat but without success. The agent told me that I could take the seat that is available and put the other one on waitlist. I asked if I could put two seats on waitlist and was told no as one seat was available (?????). The agent's also suggested that we could go to the airport on original departure date and ask if we can defer to next day departure (?????)

There are sufficient points in my partner's KF account to put the two seats we want on waitlist. Question - should they clear, can I then phone SQ and have those seats applied to our original booking?

the agent is correct, you can't waitlist a seat that is available, it makes no sense.

I appreciate you are trying to fly as a couple, and you want the seats to be available together, but that's not the way it works n this case.

Availability of revenue seats is no indicator of whether or not award seats will be made available. SQ may be keeping the whole cabin for expected paid seats. And if they did covert a revenue seat to an award seats, whoever was on the waitlist already for that flight would get the seat automatically before you. waitlist.

Most us here actually prefer to book one-ways as exposed to returns so I'd just be booking them as is.

I went through the process of waitlisting the flights from my partner's account - all good, completed passenger details etc, hit the final button and then received an error message to contact SQ by phone to complete the booking.
The agent I spoke with confirmed that yes, the waitlist was open but he couldn't explain why I wasn't able to complete the request given the booking was from a different KF account with sufficient points etc. I asked if he could put us on the waitlist from his end without success because that single seat was available it automatically confirmed and put the other seat needed on waitlist! I asked whether the system 'recognized' that we already had a booking for this sector the previous day and that's why I couldn't proceed and he said 'possibly' - which still seems a bit bizarre to me. Am I missing something here??

Thanks to this thread (quite a bit of good information - read through from the start), I've now made my first KF redemptions for the outbound leg of my holiday and hoping to do the same for return trip.
My original booking was for next September SYD-SIN-MLE in J for 2 pax & waitlisted suites for SYD-SIN which came through after 2 days I'm quite impressed. I called to accept the waitlist as couldn't figure it out online. Hold expires tomorrow morning. Called tonight as hadn't yet received new ticketing confirmation. Told all confirmed re-ticketing, change fees and top up miles to be deducted sometime in the future. Is this normal? I'd hate to lose my suites seats (and worse still my original J seats). Looking forward to joining the Suites club.

I recently matched my Jade Shangri La to get Krisflyer Silver (from advice of another FF website). It also stated to get to gold, I just need to take 3 flights operated by Sin (just not G class ones). I was thinking of doing a return economy to Jakarta with stopover in Sin (which is 3 flights), does this then qualify me for gold (even though it's a return flight purchase)?

I think I have just converted another person from Qantas to SQ - I showed him the book the cook menus and he was blown away by it. He is a self funded flyer like us, so isn't tied to one airline......

Given that this years long holiday is to Europe in the middle of their winter the lovely wife has requested our next short trip be to escape the PER winter for a week or two.

I am thinking of using my newly minted HHonors Diamond status and points accrued on the Eurotrip for a few nights at Conrad Koh Samui or Conrad Bali.

Now being the good AFFer that I am I think why fly direct when I can fly connect for the same number of KF miles and spend a few days in Singapore.

PER-SIN-USM is no problem (well except that it includes a MI segment).

Now Zone 8 to Zone 2 should be possible according to the award chart, but of course the SQ website deems PER-SIN-DPS as back tracking. With the message:
"The Origin and Destination you have selected constitutes a backtrack routing. Backtracking is not permitted except as required by routing restrictions. Backtracking occurs when a journey does not continue in the same direction as that in which it was begun."

Now is this a case of routing restriction as SQ do publish fares from PER-DPS, or more importantly has anyone done it as an award?

Sure I could call KF but as I won't actually be booking anything yet and don't have dates I thought I would consult the AFF brains trust before sitting on hold for an academic question.

Yes have used SQ rdpt to fly MEL-SIN-DPS - it is indeed a valid routing.

Excellent, though MEL-SIN-DPS does show up online. Hopefully despite the website the same holds true for PER.

Now just to decide where to go, having been to Thailand but not USM DPS has a slight edge when coupled with it being SQ metal all the way. However the Conrad does look rather impressive.

Managed to add a SIN>HAN J flight to an existing SYD>SIN suites booking with no additional miles deducted from my account. Did have to pay a re-ticketing fee plus taxes which worked out to be $90 /pax.

The operator wasn't helpful saying that since my SYD>SIN had been ticketed, it was not possible to add another flight. He offered to book it for the additional 34,000 miles and would link the tickets. After firmly pressing him and asking him to review my request with a supervisor he then came back and said it will be sent to the relevant team to re-ticket as a SYD>SIN>HAN with no additional miles deducted.

Woooo suites here we come!!!! Can't wait!

Serious 1st World problem - conf on 831 77W PVG-SIN morrow dep 13:30 - just had WL clear 833 on 380 dep 16:40 - bit over 4hrs TPR / Changi terminal compared to 1.5hrs - and that if t dep on time - no brainer if R a novelty but done it so often and 5hr flt only - what to do?
