SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Serious 1st World problem - conf on 831 77W PVG-SIN morrow dep 13:30 - just had WL clear 833 on 380 dep 16:40 - bit over 4hrs TPR / Changi terminal compared to 1.5hrs - and that if t dep on time - no brainer if R a novelty but done it so often and 5hr flt only - what to do?

You've been through Changai that many times I'd be taking the SQ833 with the short layover and onto MEL. Might get lucky and go straight from one plane to another.

This made me smile! First, pause and think life is awesome! Secondly: depends are you also over the novelty of TPR? If so, option 2, 4hrs is getting to the end of my patience in an airport, particularly if I am on my way home!

nice problem though!

Potentially turning down 3 hours of CH/PH Rare? Are you feeling okay CE??

Depends how important the connection SIN-MEL is. The flights from PVG are more than likely to be delayed, by how much is the question. SQ833 has been pretty much on time for the last week or so - leaving around 1715. One day was 1752 another 1909 (arriving SIN 2354)

As MEL states the potential delays ex PVG is one problem to consider - I did want some time in TPR as I have some questions I want to get answered from lounge mgmt. I also want to do some ground work on a few other lounge matters. Not over TPR in any way - 100 sectors in R means it is no longer a novelty to me - prolly want to get a couple bots DF and need >90 mins so 833 will be tight or impossible.

I agree 4hrs in any airport upper end my tolerance also but the pool in T1 kills an hour nicely getting there / bit of a swim / change and back to TPR. Yes Tommy - a decent dose PH Rare right on the radar - think you guys have just convinced me stick with 831. I also have a little task I want to perform for Fm b4 her trip.

I am guessing the first 100 are the hardest CE.
Meanwhile our flights to the US are now not on the A380.

Have/Are you going to try the A350 SFO-SIN leg? I know its only J but interested on thoughts.

I have it booked for the wife and I in January.

Ah it is good to be home - a very pleasant Sat arvo coming up:

Only 3 pax in F today so I can store my HL under 2A:

It still never ceases to amaze me that that SQ produced all these 77Ws and 77WNs with no OH bins - I hate the HL in front of my feet - I am forever kicking it and I am only 6ft tall.

Quick question, current plan is KUL to SIN on 30th Dec arrive at 7pm, depart at 6.55am for SIN to BNE the following morning all in J and all on one booking. Will I be allowed into SilverKris lounge on 30 Dec - want to kill a few hours there before I got to the transit hotel for my six hour stay. thanks

I dont mind it; I hate having my feet on the floor so it doesnt bother me, I prefer to have my feet up on the footrest.

All 777 F tables have vertical adjustment also and they work perfectly - I'd be surprised if there were faults with the 350 tables - surely somebody here has flown it by now who can report first hand?

We have no need to go via San Francisco at the moment so we have not gone on the A350.
On the A380 I go for a window seat every time.

Another subtle change to SKL is that you now need to input SKL password to access wifi where previously you never did. Signal is pretty strong and pax waiting below Lounges in transit area and gates A1 to A8 waiting area were using up the capacity limiting signal strength to Lounge pax.

Once connected allegedly your connection good for 36hrs before requiring reinput code - my iPad reconnected automatically after almost 7 days but iPhone didn't - has Lounge staff stumped too.

There is also now a 'Garment Press' installed just around first corner TPR past toilets. It is a vertical steamer cabinet that allegedly takes creases out of garment when they are put inside. Many you learned people will know what it is - I have never seen one but then again I don't get out much.

Edit: Wifi password actually lasts 30 days - lounge staff contacted IT to clarify - in hindsight I don't think I ever connected iPhone to wifi on way through as with VF Inter Roam 4G avail in SIN so wifi really not needed.

Somebody was asking somewhere on AFF recently about access to TPR when a stopover was involved - I cannot remember who it was or where the query was posted but if he or she puts their hand up I have the info for them.

I am reporting this first hand. It's clunky.
However in saying this, I've only flown sq first a heap and never biz so unsure if 777 is the same table.
