SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Unfortunately no couches or nap rooms in TPR - there are 2 'Telephone Rooms' but they only have 1 chair and one foot stool in each - not conducive to sleep.

When Mrscove tore her knee SQ were able to create a bed for her with 2 stools and the chair. We were very happy with the TPR staff for the help they offered.
I think it was in a "telephone room" so she had a nap.

Way down back of SKL J T3 there are some bench / sofa length seats - but keenly sought after and continually used - lounge staff fully understand situation and are more than happy to provide blankets to those using them.

You may not need the transit hotel depending on your body clock from your point of departure. We just grabbed a nap on the couches or as I recall in one of the meeting room arrangements in the TPR.
Thanks for the suggestion however I will have been on the red-eye PER-SYD the night before, so am happy to spring for a real bed.

We regularly get a room at Crowne Plaza but the one I mentioned was a 4 hour layover so TPR staff were great.

Booked a one-way BKK-SIN-KUL earlier in month for travel today. I was logged in to KrisFlyer account to default ckntact details and entered Velocity number jnto booking to credit flights.

Checked in today and was on my way to lounge when I notice KrisFlyer number on boarding pass. Oh oh. Lounge staff no interest in assisting and turns me away. I ask her to help and she calls supervisor. KrisFlyer number removed and Velocity number in booking and now sitting in lounge.

Now need new boarding pass at gate. Not sure if that is possible.

I can confirm this is the case - This month an early entry to the lounge (we had 8 hours at Changi to kill) in the Business lounge meant I had three kids and a wife sleeping on those couches - and blankets and pillows materialised within minutes of our arrival - very accommodating.
We limited our time there to share the love a bit, and the consensus among the folks there that I spoke to was that they should install at least twice as many benches for just that purpose.

Peter

Or Changi needs to approve/build more airside hotel rooms or sleeping capsules. The airside hotels can fill up quickly.

Hi,

I've got a quick question about stopovers with SQ. I'm trying to find the best way to get around North America (SFO, YOW, YWG and YYC) and was wondering about SQ. I understand that you get a stopover with a round trip and you can buy extras for $100USD, however I thought I'd read somewhere that you can't use them in North America - can anyone confirm? Is that only if the itinerary is entirely domestic or is it a special rule? Would a HNL-SFO (stop)-YOW (dest), YOW-YWG (stop) - YYC (stop) - SFO (transit) -HNL work? Any SQ experts able to advise?

Thanks

I don't think SQ flies any of those routes.

The stopovers are in SIN.

There are lots of semi-comfortable places to sleep all over the airport ( in public areas) , just not in the lounges. There are very specific slumber zones with slumber seats as well as other places where you can stretch across several seats. I think the logic is people who are in lounges can afford hotels. :p At most airports it's the other way around.

If I had to spend the night there (not that I would) it would probably be in a public area.

No stopovers are permitted for one-way awards.
• One complimentary en route stopover is permitted for round-trip awards. Up to three more additional
stopovers are also permitted at US$100 each, regardless of the class of service.
• No stopovers are permitted for purely domestic travel, or within the country of departure in an itinerary.
No stopovers are permitted if an itinerary contains only European cities, or is between continental USA
and Central America or Canada.

I thought you can get stopovers in one-way saver awards tickets? It's just not complimentary and must pay the $100 fee. I got one added for SIN for my one way saver flight to Europe.

Paid stopovers can be added to one-way SQ saver awards, but I don't think they can be added to one-way star alliance partner awards.

My understanding also but then again have never tried to add one to a *A rdpt - as for KF o/w Savers you can add a s/o at each port you transit - ie MEL-SIN-FRA-JFK - can add s/o in SIN and FRA @USD100ea

The above supports this.
I was told this year that you cannot have a stopover on a one-way *A award, regardless of how much you want to pay.
SQ and Star Alliance awards have different rules.

Looking at reward flights and I can waitlist J SYD>LHR and secure a seat for LHR>SYD.

As Ive got a return booking that is ticketed, do you think it would be a safe bet that my waitlist will clear?

I know there is no guarantee but Ive not redeemed via SQ before (will be transferring VA points).

cheers,

Hi guys!

What are all the lounges available for us to use at Changi Airport (other than the famous The Private Room) if we're flying in and out with SQ F?

The reason is that we will have 8 hours transit at Singapore and would like to try all the lounges we can enter there.

Thank you!
