I didn't think partial mixed were available if F was available but booked out, it had to be booked as two awards??

Most recent processes within KF YES 2 awards - but if you push push push / appeal appeal appeal to higher ranking / more experienced staff then old system still available - I thought I clearly explained this earlier.

I understand mixed redemption is available at F rates where F is not an option on a sector, but I didn't think it was possible where F is available on that sector.

Eg. I have MEL-SIN-HAN booked as a mixed redemption at F rate, but SIN-HAN is in J because F doesn't exist on this sector. This took quite some pushing to get booked as 1 award, but it got there.

But say, MEL-SIN-MNL couldn't be booked as a mixed redemption with SIN-MNL in J because that sector has F as an option (even though it's impossible to book).

Or am i wrong? Are mixed redemptions available at F rates where F is an option for one sector, but not available because it's fully booked?

Hi all,
New to this thread, but looking forward to our Nov 17 redemption bookings BNE-SIN-MAN in J (218,025 Velocity points converted to 161,500 KF miles +$933.00 taxes and surcharges). Booking directly with Velocity would have been 278,000 points + $190. We will be returning in January on my QFF points (booking with CX also in J).

We have secured 11D and 11F for both legs on the refurbished B777-200 and A350, which I gather are the best seats to have. Is there a chance we could be bumped from those seats by a higher status KF member? (I have no status with KF).

nice one! Sounds similar to our 2018 trip, SQ out (fingers crossed suites!) and CX J inbound. Am interested to hear whether you get the date you want with CX or need to be flexible?

I have never been bumped from my selected SQ seat- and I've been lucky enough to score the bulkhead on points & revenue, travelling as a couple & solo. I have no KF status either. Enjoy!

Absolutely ZERO* chance you will ever be 'bumped' from your selected SQ seat in R, F or J unless there is equip change - ZERO*. (*Unless you have selected a bassinet seat and that seat is reqd by a parent with infant)

Crew may politely ask you 'Would you would mind moving' if you were travelling solo and were seated in one of a pair of seats with the other vacant and a separated couple wanting to sit together. This scenario has happened to me numerous times where I have selected 3C in R with 3D vacant and a couple separated who would like to sit together - obviously I always agree - but crew are always at pains to explain it is my selected seat and I have every right to retain that seat.

I posted this exact story after a ZRH-SIN-MEL flt in R in Sept - a couple of AFFers even suggested I was out of line for expecting a tiny thank you from the couple I gave up my preselected seat for - we are all different aren't we?

Hi,

Still new to the KF redemption game. I've been lucky to score F x2 from SIN-SYD this year and thought availability was not too bad on KF. Alas, not the case. I've been looking since late last year for SYD-LHR or another route as I would like to go to Athens, SYD-ATH basically for 2, early June or Sep 2017, shoulder season. Every SYD-LHR or SIN-LHR seems to be on waitlist for J or F. Any tricks that can be passed on?

Cheers

-Maybe try to add a stopover in Singapore (search the routes SYD-SIN, SIN-LHR and vice versa to check for availabilities - it does not mean you can 'marry' the two available award segments (Married Segments), but gives you a rough idea of what is potentially available).
-Otherwise book 350+ days out - to get max availability.
-From March-October is normally very fully booked, I find northern hemisphere winters the best chance for availability to Europe.

Thx for your tips.
Although Athens/London are where I would spent most time at, in your opinion what are some European ports (which I'm happy to fly in and out of) that aren't that as popular (i.e. more award availability)??

Athens no F. I have always found LHR very good - as there are 4 flights per day SIN-LHR//LHR-SIN. Not all routes have first. A380 has 12 suites, 777WR - 4 , 777W/WN - 8

The list of SIN-European ports with First class flights per day (as far as I know):
LHR - 4 (2xA380/1x777WR/1x777W)
ZHR - 1 A380
CDG - 1 A380
FRA - 2 (A380/777WR)
MUC - 1 777WR
MXP/BCN - 1 (5x week 777W)
MAN - 1 (5x week 777W)

The only pickle is that at least some of the above cities are getting the A50 (like Manchester, also Milan/Barcelona?) - that removes F. And when that happens SQ isn't necessarily forthcoming in rerouting you via a city with F.

Further to my posts last week re mixed redemptions and pricing as 2 awards...
this week I had to change dates on an earlier booking and was assisted by a very helpful and willing Singapore telephone person named "Winter'...on completion of that request I thought I would re-visit last weeks challenge re mixed redemption on PER-SIN-NRT ( which eventually I had booked in J on-line because they wore me out ) explained the saga etc etc and she confirmed the requirement to apeal, which I did and 18 hours later was advised by phone..all sucessful...
So this post is to just confirm to Perth-ites and others as Cuiser has said...'appeal,appeal'

F x2 would be ideal but beggars can't be choosers (as I'm thinking early Sep) so I would happily go to any European port for 2xJ availabilities and work myself to either LHR or ATH on a budget flight if need.

I had an issue today that I had not encountered before.

When trying to book PER-SIN-USM all legs were available but when it came to the payment screen an error would display and the return leg would be waitlisted.

I had initially planned to call as the legs were still showing as available online. I was on hold for an hour without a response so tried booking the flights as 2 one ways which confirmed with no problems.

Not a real issue on this trip as we don't require a stopover but still a bit frustrating.

I booked Sin - bne departing at 6:55am, arriving in bne at 4:45pm. I had assumed, incorrectly, this would be a lunch and breakfast flight. It's a breakfast and refreshment flight . This means I can't get the lobster thermidor! I really wanted my parents to try this, so I'm disappointed.

Did this flight last week. There are some BTC but breakfast options only. Refreshment is noodles or sandwich. I had an amazing crew and they were very proactive with almost dine on demand if you wanted to sleep after take off.

-Etihad dine any time and the food is better.

almost dine on demand if you wanted to sleep after take off.

On a few of my recent SQ flights I have experienced the same almost dine on demand. Basically "we're planning to serve meal at X time, but let us know if you'd like a different time", and was then served at my requested time (quite a while after).

Thanks for the feedback. I'm disappointed with this. I was going to book the flight leaving SIN at midnight, but thought this would be a better option for food. Damn! I would try to change flights, but it's too expensive for the LM redemption. I hope we have a good crew too.

Waitlist question,I have a booking already ticketed, however I am looking to take a later flight on the first sector (BNE > SIN). Right now the sector is currently under waitlist.

If I waitlist this flight, if it comes available to me is it a simple case of calling SQ and paying the change fee to have the booking reissued with the later flight segment?

Also, with the points balance, I have enough to waitlist the alternate flight. If I want to make an entirely new booking (not related to the current one) what will the points balance need to be? Waitlist amount + New booking amount?

Cheers

I haven't had a WL open so can't answer that one 100% but yeah I'd assume it's really straight forward.

No you'd only need the points balance for the new booking.

What you should do is call KrisFlyer and get them to WL the alternate leg you want to your current booking.
