SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

In the last week or so, Sq no longer allows you to select 3C,D online on the A380 if you are travelling as a couple whether award or cash booking. FYI :( (2C, D is always blocked as it is the bassinet position)

kpc 2C/D are bassinet seats which are always blocked for online selection - 3C/D are the other centre pairs of Suites. Where did you get this information re not bookable from?

Edit: Not true - I just did dummy booking and after inputting 2nd pax name you can then select seats - 3C/D readily 'chooseable'
Interesting...I have been making a few dummy bookings (;)) and can never select 3C, D....Just made a suites booking for Syd-Sin-Lhr but could not select 3C, 3D for either flight so went 2A, 3A...after your post, I went back to my booking and now was able to change to 3c, 3D for both flights ... strange....sorry for misinformation.

I have called up to book using the Gentleman's account a number of times without any issue, no authority required.

yup, I chose 3C/D today for our first R flight!! Fingers crossed I can change the date without penalty post March 23rd.

And, thanks to everyone for the mountain of advice on this board and the patience and good humour it's provided with. We are beyond excited about this trip, and there's no way it would have happened without you guys! :-)

Where are you off to?

From what I understand, waitlists don't usually clear until a few weeks before the flight, sometimes only a few days. So it may just be too early at this stage.

Good points, maybe ill give it ago a lot closer to the date. from the discussions being had in the thread i got the impression when they called up, they pretty much pushed it through

Indeed WLs can clear any time - no definitive time frame. Calling up and asking for Chaser to be sent off can help but again no guarantee.

I got a flight to HND in F on the 7th April with my wife and 8 month old son, unfortunately it's the clunker 777-300 but F is F!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am booking an F return BNE-SYD-SIN-ICN and because the BNE-SYD isn't available in F, I have to ring up. Since I can't book online, I should get the online discount, correct?

Yup you should get the discount that's how I booked my mixed class redemption but be careful because sometimes the segments don't marry, if they don't provide you with the discount push for it or HUACA

Singapore and Virgin aren't connected through *A, it's a separate partnership. I don't think you can redeem it all as one award ticket for the whole journey? May have to do BNE-SYD separately?

Bacchus Marsh, if you get it to all work on KF miles on as award book, please let us know as I've always wanted to do something similar.

I just recently booked MEL-DPS return, but the MEL-DPS segment didn't marry to the DPS-MEL flight as I could only search availability as one-way not return, so had to call up to book them separately on the one ticket as a return trip and the agent initially wasn't going to give the discount so I had to explain why i couldn't book this online so they would apply the 15% discount.

Nice little surprise in mail today tks to diningdecadence:

When I add another S$20 Voucher on Mar 25 to this one then 2 x 1ltr botts Baileys @ S$26ea are going to appear extremely cheap.

Thanks for the reminder CE - I must remember to pick these vouchers up this time on our way through Changi on April 1.

Also CE - we've got $400 SGD of in flight vouchers to burn due to a headphone issue on our R flight. Is there any catalogue that we can view online in advance to make sure we use this on something? Not going to be flying SQ F again in the foreseeable future, and Mrs Tizey hasnt got another SQ flight booked before it will expire.

Looking at booking flights to Hong Kong in October. Any tips on minimum transit time in Changi. Expecting anything in the 2-3 hour range should be fine, accounting for any slight delays, gate transfers etc.

Or am I being naive?
