SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Not to beat a dead horse, but interestingly (to some, and I'm sure others don't really care), Emirates responded promptly to our inquiry with:

Hi Rob,Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. We had to check with our Catering team.We don't normally offer soy milk on-board but we managed to secure one for your partner. Our catering team confirmed Soy milk will be loaded on your flight. Feel free to request it from our cabin crew.Regards,Fae, Emirates Social Media Team

It's obviously not very difficult, if EK can get a single carton of soy milk on one of their 6 flights leaving Singapore.

Wow, so emailed them back, saying a colleague has advised me that their request for soy milk on flights between Australia, Singapore, and Europe has been approved.... can you please confirm the availability.... and SQ responded with "we are unable to assist with clarifying the matter further".

Giving up. What a way for SQ to make an impression before we even arrive at the airport. They missed the mark on their values on this occasion:

Quick question for SQ experts - I'm looking at 2 x J awards and have found availability on a flight. I've a mix of amex points in my and my partners name. I'm not sure there is a way to easily combine these points. If we both transfer to our individual KF accounts and book single awards separately, will the previous availability of 2 stay true and we'll both be able to book? Could we do this over the phone and have SQ book together onto one PNR?

you should be able to log into your separate krisflyer accounts and book at the same time.

LP you will not be able to combine 2 rdpts from seperate KF accs into one Booking Redemption. Just get your pts into your accs and call - no advantage now in booking online - if you can see availability online KF agent should also see them - Saver rdpts wait for no man.

If you are looking at return flights you can also book 2 oneways from one account and then the return flights from the other account.

Believe in the product....brother and his plus one have flown to Paris on Saver.
Eldest son going later this week on Saver to London.
We are two weeks away from London.
Youngest son and his plus one are heading for Los Angeles in a month.
Sister in law has to wait until September for London on a Suites Saver.
It may get harder to do all of this when the RBA changes the amount of Kris Miles we can make.

super jealous- I wish our long hauls were that frequent! But I like that you are sharing the suite love with your family :-)

Yes PDog it has been a sharing thing for us.
I do wonder how things will change next year.
We are about to do our twelfth stop at Crowne Changi.....the hotel keeps count.
My eldest son is doing a trip to Russia for the soccer using Emirates fairly soon. Will be interested in his comments on his first time in First with them.

Found Saver F/Suites SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK for the day before I need...close enough as far as I'm concerned. Now to keep checking my account for the Citi points transfer to come...

Much better redemption than SYD-AUH-JFK on EY at 203,000 velocity + $600 USD seat fees + any other taxes on top. Loads of availability however which I found surprising.

Sadly looking at a one way initially. I was first planning on burning all my VA points (by converting to KF) and topping up with MR points as I value the flexibility of the MR points a lot more, but having some in the wifes name and some in mine makes using up all the MR points trickier as neither of us has huge balances and they don't align equally with the awards we are chasing. I'm now thinking being able to move VA points between our accounts and therefore to either KF account gives the VA points some added flexibility. Even after debating most of the weekend in my head I'm still not sure the best option and which points I should hold on to...

Transfer from her MR account to your Krisflyer account?

I just realised I cheated myself out of 20 changi dollars on the way back from Taipei the other week. No doubt CE will be telling everyone at dinner [-]who[/-] how stupid I am :o :( :(

Nah mate - if it was still $40 I might need to mention that - but for $20 I will not wait for if queue is longer than 5 or 6. Was Taipei ever $40 or only $20 like MNL?

I was so tired that trip... I actually had to do work... for once.

Um, not sure - I'm getting forgetful these days. It's a bit annoying having to go and claim them, so easy to forget for me given so many of my flights are direct in/out of SIN.

What are peoples thoughts SQ Suites vs Lufthansa F on FRA-JFK who have flown both? Doesn't have to be that specific route I guess.
