SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Interesting, I'll have to take a stroll over from Rydges and find out on the day. Strange MEL and SYD have a different apprach.

Am currently ensconced in SKL F MEL - I have had 'audience' with SQ MEL Operations Manager - she made call to SYD and clarified position - SYD do not offer all day checkin or all day bag drop - they adhere strictly to 3/3.5hr pre dep checkin but due to flt timings Lounge stays open all day from 3hr pre dep 212 to dep 242.

Hope this helps gmoh - but by all means call SQ at SYD and ask again. Sorry I do not have their number.

MEL on the other much more customer friendly - F and J pax can check in any time that they front on day of travel - if flts very full then Y pax will also be accommodated. Luggage will be held upstairs til 3hr pre flt then sent down the chute.

Gonna ask a dumb question about the new J seats....i realise that passengers have to sleep at an angle when the seat is in flat bed mode (Due to the location of the footrest) Is your head right up against the edge of the seat because of this layout ? And do you have much space to move your body and head around ? I am not a side sleeper, so i am just curious if it is comfortable seat to sleep on.

That all depends on how tall (or short) you are :) The taller you are, the less room to move. Your head kind of ends up at the back corner of the seat. I'd certainly recommend trying to score a bulkhead if you can, either in advance, during check-in, or at the airport.

Thanks for the reply Mel Traveller. I am about 1.77m tall, so hopefully i will just fit in ! I will try and get a bulkhead seat, but apparently they are reserved for elite status paxs now, but i will try and ask anyway.

Cruiserette never opens the 'Amenity Packs' as she usually just gifts them to a deserving cause on her return home - a crew member just happened to mention how handy the actual bags are now that they are including a shoulder strap:

Means nothing to me but apparently now turns into a terribly handy SF clutch with a shoulder strap. I am advised it is the perfect size for those ultra imperative items incl iPhone 6+.

Not sure I could fit all of my 'ultra imperative' items in that, especially when that list always seems to include a number of items belonging to my husband

What does it say on the gold plaque on the front Cruiser?

My wife has a Blue one from a trip earlier this year and uses it sometimes.

It fits her keys, purse and phone

the missus has the blue one from earlier this year and it came with a strap as well. she likes it because it can be a "going out" bag that doesn't get in the way and not too big :)

I gave my handle-less bags to the young uni student girls over the road who were thrilled. But, if SQ gave me a dark coloured bag with a long strap I'd be happy to use it.

I probably know the answer to this :( but is there a LHR T2 arrival lounge for SG F pax? I've got 3 hours to kill before my Flybe LHR to EDI next month. I'm sure I'll need to re-adjust gently to real life after 22.5 hours in SG F :!:
