SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

give it time. They’re making 2/4 seats available on their 777s with just 4 F. so once the hype has passed they’ll possibly release new suites, like they did with the original suites back in 2007/8.

planning to redeem for early April.. if A380 seats not possible, guess i will travel to MEL instead on the 777.. which is old designs..

For april maybe not, although there are reports you can waitlist for the new a380 already. The 777 i flew to melbourne a few months ago was new new F. But to be honest i don’t really appreciate the differences between all the F seats. (i haven’t flown it yet, but it seems i’m the only one that hasn’t warmed to the ‘big empty room’ concept of the new suites :( )

when u say new new F on 777, are you referring to the 4 F seats ? Of course cant be compared with the new A380 big empty room.. but tot of redeeming for mom to try..:-)

new new with 4F and i think also they have it with 8F... at least i’m pretty sure they did on my flight last year. I think it comes down to personal preference. Some prefer the more ‘traditional’ cabin set up. I like the a380 current suites only because elf the bed length. I can give or take the sliding doors.

Quick question please.

Does anyone know the current PE load on SQ218 departing Melbourne on 24 January 2018? If so, could you please advise.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers, SQ

SQ's site is in maintenance until 0800 their time, so Expert Flyer isn't able to access their loads. But you can do your own search here after that.

Is there any whispers as to next legs getting new suites? Long shot, but we've just booked MEL-SIN-PEK for September 2018 in suites.. not holding hope, but would be awesome if we managed one of the flights to be new suites.

Yep, after those not yet announced. Seems my hope for mel-sin-nrt in April is dead.. maybe hold some hope for mel-sin-pek in September.

Just a question re: Stopovers with Saver OW vs Ret.

Is it worth it booking 2 separate OW tickets and pay for a stopover or book a Saver return ticket and get a free stopover?
Was the benefits of booking 2 separate OW tickets just the flexibility? Will it be any different once the new fee changes come into effect?

1/ Flexibility (In various ways. Plans change. Waitlist may open up a preferred flight/destination etc))
2/ I mainly fly in and out of different airports
3/ Booking as one-ways maximises your chances of getting exactly the flights you want (ie my next trip is 2.5 months and if I had of waited to book a return I probably would not have got my flight to LHR with the two all day suites flights I wanted. Though if you are not booking at the max out and can see availaibilty then it is nota factor.

Will it be any different once the new fee changes come into effect?

Not for me except that I am expecting better availability. From what I have observed a fair bit of booking flights in case someone flew was going on. The new fees will most likely reduce this practice somewhat.

I thought that you could get the call centre to add a WL (new or existing) onto a current itinerary regardlless if it was OW/Return?

The new fees mean that it will cost $75 to cancel an award/redeposit miles, whereas $25 will get you a change of date/route/fare/cabin class.

It seems cheaper to just get the call centre to change your route/date if one of your waitlist opens up rather than cancel and then rebook the waitlist flight.

If I were to change the route and date, does that mean the fee is $25+$25=$50 or just a flat $25?

Flew back to Syd on SQ 241 in F. Only 4 seats ... 1-2-1 configuration. Felt lonely as I was the only one in 1F. Bed was prepared separately and a bottle of Krug all to myself. Unfortunately only had 3 glasses due to a big night in Bangkok and onwards to Singapore (1am) TPR to First Class lounge and 6:35AM boarding for SQ 241. Overall a very enjoyable flight and excellent service from the FAs.

just looking at redeeming some flights for June 2018...but I don't get the point of:

waitlist on saver yet "not available" for advantage/standard

June flights long gone in June last year. Wait until a few weeks before June and hope something unlocks.

Usually if the waitlist is not even an options then the waitlists are also full.

that makes sense if both were waitlist, or if saver was N/A an advantage was waitlist. but they aren't

I've found availability +/- a day or two so its not a huge issue but the above doesn't make sense to me

I have a first booking ATH-ZRH-SIN-SYD and called up to change it to ATH-ZRH-SIN-CBR since I can now get first straight through.

When I called up I was waitlisted and then almost immediately received this email:

We are pleased to inform you that the following waitlisted flight(s) is available for confirmation:

Flight No.: SQ288
From: SIN (Changi Intl)
To: CBR (Canberra)
Departing Date: 06 Jul 2018
Departing Time: 10:30

If you have made a redemption booking, please visit singaporeair.com to confirm your booking. For other waitlisted flights or booking types, please contact your local Singapore Airlines office.

Your waitlisted flight(s) will be cancelled if no confirmation is received by 02 Feb 2018, 16:00 (GMT +8).

I assume this means the waitlist has cleared but I cannot work out how to actually confirm the flight online. Any idea what combination of buttons I need to make this happen? Or will I need to call?

Thanks!
