SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

If travelling with the wife I prefer we both have window seats with me sitting behind the wife. That way is harder for her to see how many drinks I am served!
If we are sitting in the middle as a couple she answers for me if Singapore Girl asks if I want a top up or another drink!

What does an infant cost for F SYD-SIN-LHR(anywhere in Europe)?

~$900?

Last year I was quoted more, about $1,500 from memory. That is one way. I think you should call and check for your specific flights but generally it is 10% of the adult ticket plus taxes. In the end i decided i couldn't justify the cost.

I just booked an infant return F ticket MEL-LHR in august this year for $1300.

Also remember, LHR has a high departure tax. So it's probably cheaper if leaving elsewhere in Europe.

You could just do a fake booking for 1 adult and 1 infant on the days and cities you want to travel to/fro to get the infant fare.

In relation to UK APD there is an exemption for children under the age of 2 without their own seat that applies to children travelling in all classes.

Thanks to all for the valuable information in this thread, I have been able to book for 2 our first ever first class booking. It will be SYD-SIN-LHR both on A380 and we couldn't be more excited.
One question if I may regarding the return leg which will be the same route, I'm wanting to do a few days stopover in SIN, so would it be advisable to book just to sin as soon as it's available and then add the SYD leg a few days later? Or do I wait a few days and hope I can get both on the same booking (I'm happy to pay extra in fees but am a little points poor so would prefer to do it for as few a points as possible)

Booking the legs separately will cost more points as it won't be under the one award route. Best to book both legs under the one booking. The stopover can be added at time of booking for US$100.

IMO you should consider booking LHR-SIN-SIN on the day it opens, then a few days later when the SIN-SYD date you want opens up, call up and get them to add the stopover. (I don't know if you get extra fees doing it this way since their recent changes though.)

Gday

In July 2017 i booked a couple of redemption tickets for travel in March 2018. If i want to push the date out a few months is that doable online? And due to the Krisflyer devaluation late last year will i have to cough up the increase in points cost?

Thank you.

Pele.

About two weeks ago I added LYR-TOS-OSL-CPH to an existing CPH-SIN-SYD award booking... after finally getting the right agent, they warned me that the changes would cost quite a lot. In the end, it came to SGD63 for a fare that was going to cost me a fair bit more, and I got it all on the one ticket. So, pretty happy about that.

Ahh, did not know that. However, as the infant needs to obviously travel with an adult, there's still tax to be paid, but it does help knowing you don't have to fork out extra for the infant, besides the fare of ticket.

The burger on it's own isn't too bad, but the foie gras made it oh so much better. Such a shame it's not on the menu anymore.

SQ have taken delivery of their second new A380 - 9V-SKV. I was lucky enough to be sitting in 1A for the first (commercial) flight from SIN-SYD. It appears to have taken over from 9V-SKU on the 221/232 shuttle.

The new suites get a thumbs up from me. I just wish the seat didn't wobble so much, especially during turbulence.

So here's a solution to a problem with "married segments" logic.

MEL-SIN Dec XX: Available
SIN-LHR connecting flight: Available

Combined award: not available, even to waitlist

MEL-SIN Dec XX-1: Available

Pay $100 for a stopover (on a Saver award), and book MEL-SIN Dec XX-1 + the desired connecting flight.

Call next day, and change first leg to MEL-SIN Dec XX. Presto!

YMMV.

It seems a convoluted but successful way of getting around it. Did you get your $100 back?
