SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I have heard on this forum of people asking in TPR if there is any Lobster and receiving a positive response.

Personally I asked last time we were there for breakfast, but none available.

I've once asked for breakfast satay in the TPR, which wasnt on the menu but they happily obliged.

Flying SQ and not having Satay is akin to flying F with no Krug... whats the point?

Had possibly my best ever R flt on SQ222 SYD-SIN on Monday - just outstanding. Crew in R cabin spectacular and I also got to mix with many other crew members in J, Y+ and Y cabins.

Food was equal to any meal I have ever had on SQ – main course was Lamb Shank which was very substantial serving and tasted divine – every course hit the bulls eye.

Was lucky enough to have a flt with SQ Auditor Ivy onboard whom I had previously met on a flt PEK-MEL on May 12, 2017 – more on that in a later post.

Flt totally full – 11 pax in R with 1 no show – J and Y not a spare seat.

Our next go in Suites is after Christmas.
Mrscove was not happy with QF business class on the A380 when we were beaten out of First class by some politicians so no upgrade for us.
Meanwhile we have been building up our stash of Kris Miles using several Amplify cards in the family.

CE seems to have had a face transplant.
He should be happy with Essendon thrashing the West Coast Eagles tonight.

contemplating a flight out of ZRH. Where do people generally spend the night prior? (not keen to risk a connecting flight given its 1145am departure)

Radisson Blu right at terminal is now our 'go to' - rooms quite adequate but in house restaurants aint spectacular - Park Inn close by is cheap and cheerful with fabulous little round shower cubicles - can also take short taxi ride to restaurants nearby - either more than adequate.

thanks Cruiser - don't bother heading into town?

Absolutely worth going downtown. Although you could just as easily stay at the airport and catch the train into town to have a look around. It's all very easy. Hotels can be on the pricey side in Zurich. A brand new Motel One has opened. From 169CHF per night, but good location and at least you know it's going to be good quality. Easy to get to town and wander around awhile. Either train or bus will do it and take you straight to the centre, very easy. Even just a couple hours walk around will be worth it. Sounds like staying near the airport would be easier and cheaper. And, eat back at the lounge.

Can't check-in online if one segement is walitlisted: is that really the case?
I've received multiple e-mail reminders to check online in for my SQ 208 + SQ 392 flights tomorrow, but can't get it to work, whether I enter the booking referencr or the e-ticket number.
When I phoned I was told I can't check in because I am waitlisted for a Business seat on the SIN-IST connecting flight . That's even though I have a normal paid Economy seat for that flight. And I will have to wait in the long queue and not use the "already checked-in" line at the airport.
Is this usual? Should it make me more or less confident that the waitlisted seat will eventuate?

Trains from ZRH to Hauptbahnhof run every 5 mins (actual next train could be anything from suburban to ICE), journey time 13 minutes, thence it's 10 min walk from station to river / Alt-Stadt .

I am planning a trip to Europe for next year and as there is no F out of Perth it will need to be a J/F award.

Has anyone had any recent experience with booking mixed class awards?

It seems there were some issues getting these priced at the F rate rather than two separate awards. around the time of the award chart change and removal of the online discount and YQ. I can't seem to find any recent info though.

Ideally I would also pay the $100 fee and add a stopover in SIN if this was still an option.
