SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

might as well ask now, since Ill be asking in 6 months
SQ 218 Airbus A380-800

is my relatives flight in F
elderly couple,
all seats avaiaible excet the front middle two with the bassinet

obviously, side by side is better for them which is the seat behind which is the one in front of the galley

stick with this one
or split them up to the side but away from galley?

3DG is just fine for a couple.

For SQ 335 A380-800 in J we have been assigned what I would think are the worst seats in this cabin. 96F and 96D.
Reminds me of the only bad Singapore flight we every had, was in Y seats 82H and K, absolute nightmare with the toilet, smell, light, noise, would rather not repeat. Also looks to be earmarked for bassinets so being moved also likely.

Just flew SIN-LHR in these seats and they were awesome! Really high bulkhead, makes it very private, and we had the full row of 4 seas for the 2 of us. Bed + lounging! Service was great (though that back cabin was only 50% full). Pretty much no one came back to use those facilities so nice private clean toilet for the whole flight. We did have an infant, but if there were no infants (which you could confirm at check in) I reckon these would be great seats.

Well that gets a little complicated. One is a points reward on a SQ flight number but claimed through VA. (don't shoot me) The other is a fully paid fare through VA on a VA flight number. (paid by my business) So not quite so easy.

Huh? Should be very easy regardless of where booked. Just go to SQ website input the SQ PNR and can view/select seats.

Couple of photos from 96D,F. We actually had these MEL-SIN-LHR.

Been helping a friend get status matched to united plat ( now successful ).

Flying SQ in a few weeks .......SYD- SIN-JNB return in premium economy and will have Star Alliance Gold.

Am I right in saying the Gold lounge in SIN is what he would use ? I assume can't get in SilverKris

A lot of negative comments on the gold lounge offering, however not sure there is a good alternative in this situation

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately that's right (on all counts). There's also a Thai Airways lounge I believe, but I think this was discussed in another thread that it's a pretty basic lounge. SQ dominates the SIN lounge scene.

That's a bit odd. All of my bookings have been made through Virgin. Are you sure you were trying to use the SQ PNR not Virgin's on SQ's website?
Certainly is the one I got from Virgin, confirmed with SQ. So just unsure why it fails, reason is that it was booked with a third party, which does not seem correct to me.

I gave the PNR to SQ they said that matched what they had. So do not know what more to say. Just a full block to do anything. On another note the advice CruiserElite gave was great to call Singapore direct. It gave me all the help I needed.

There should be the Virgin and SQ PNR’s listed on your itinerary emailed to you from Virgin, they will be 2 different PNR’s. But great you got it sorted over the phone.

Indeed. If the OP quoted the Virgin PNR to singapore airlines it would indeed match. But the OP needs the specific SQ PNR to access manage booking functions.

The advantage of the SQ PNR is that the OP can actively manage the booking, going back to confirm flight times, seats, meal preferences without having to call SQ each time.

Why did they not offer that to me I wonder? I will no doubt have to call them again to obtain a specific SQ PNR.

Any insight here?

Flying SQ - booked PE and upgraded to J on points. Fare class on booking is I.

Looking at Status Credit earn tables for Velocity FF (which I credit to) and against SQ there is no I class listed. Explanatory notes say that no Status Credits are earned where KrisFlyer points have been used as a form of payment.

I’ve flown several times doing this same thing re upgrades and always got the credits.

Something changed or an omission from the table?
