SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I am receiving the below message when trying to waitlist an SQ reward.

The message comes up after completing the booking information

I have also rung the local SQ office and was told there was no waitlist available for that flight, even though it is showing as available online.

Anyone had this happen before

wisdom request here

booked F for relatives for mid june 2019, in about aug 18

waitlisted for a certain preferred timed and day,
confirmed for the previous day at a midnight flight which doesnt suit them as Plan B

waitlist still hasnt cleared

realistic chances of it clearing? as they need to start booking hotels soon

What's your routing and date? I can check the loads for you to see if there's people already booked on your flights that you've waitlisted.

Are both SQ228 and SQ306 waitlisted? Or is it just SQ306?

Ive tried to book them as a single flight, so im.not sure sorrry
I see.
It looks like both SQ228 and SQ306 are operated by the "new" 777, so only 4 seats in F.
For the MEL-SIN segment, the load is F3 so one seat has been taken, and 3 are vacant.
For the SIN-LHR segment, the load is F1 so three seats have been taken, and 1 is vacant.

Due to this second segment having only 1 vacant seat, I doubt your waitlist is going to clear. Sorry to be the bearer of such news.
Maybe stick with the confirmed flight for now, and make your hotel bookings accordingly.

About to experience a rare species... Swiss First on kris miles. Currently sitting in the Swiss first lounge in ZRH about to depart for SIN on LX 176. My original ticket GVA LHR SIN MEL was a *A redemption in F with LX providing the GVA LHR leg and SQ the rest. Swiss canceled the GVA LHR leg 2 hours before departure then rebooked me thru ZRH to SIN. The lounge is top notch , the whisky collection impressive so looking forward to suite/ seat comparisons to my trip over last week on SQ

It will be interesting to hear your comparison between SQ and LX!

Very different service ethic on LX.

That's amazing. Well done! 12+ hours in LX F should be great.

thank you very much! much apprecaited

yes it looks like that 1 vacant seat only is whats holding it back, so unless a cancellation, it doesnt seem likely

I assume you need some kind of paid subscriotion to find out that sort of seat info?

Yes, to find out this info, ExpertFlyer is invaluable. You can actually get a free 5 day trial with full functionality.

Is there any reason you didn't try and book into the A380-serviced SQ218 (MEL-SIN) and SQ308 (SIN-LHR) services? They're both on the 'old' A380 birds but this is good news in terms of loads - they both have 12 suites only so even if waitlisted you have a much better chance of it clearing if the cabin remains substantially underbooked.

I had SQ218 waitlisted for a flight late last month at the Saver (80k KF) level, and a confirmed ticket at the Advantage (150k KF) level. 2 days before the flight my waitlist cleared and I was able to have the 150k KF refunded and I paid the 80k KF to book at the Saver level. Apart from my wife and I, there were only 3 others in the Suites - a single guy and a couple.

I'm arriving on SQ288 that looks like it arrives into T1, and I need a transit hotel. Are there any problems with this one? : Aerotel Transit Hotel, Terminal 1

AUH also has a similar offering, and judging by reports received from my parents when they used it, it was good enough.
I suspect that at SIN it'll be a similar offering so you should be OK.

thanks for the awesome suggestion

we already have confirmed flights for sq218 and sq308 but we could only get J,
I wanted them to expereince F both ways, so they are on the wait list for F as well,

ideally being elderly they prefeered the 15:40pm departure time as opposed to a 00:05 departure

and when I booked I didnt know how to identify new suites or old suites, and was hoping they get the new ones, but it looks like its the old suites, which I later pleasnatly found out that many people prefer them, so my relatives should enjoy it big time!!

Awesome. I'm in the same situation as well, I've got 2 confirmed J seats for SQ218 and SQ308 for December, and I've waitlisted into F. If the waitlist doesn't come through then no dramas, J should be good enough (though would really love to try the Suites for the 14+ hr SIN-LHR leg).
