SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Awesome. I'm in the same situation as well, I've got 2 confirmed J seats for SQ218 and SQ308 for December, and I've waitlisted into F. If the waitlist doesn't come through then no dramas, J should be good enough (though would really love to try the Suites for the 14+ hr SIN-LHR leg).
wow, exactly the same situation!

at least we can both sleep easy that we have J confirmed!

I'm arriving on SQ288 that looks like it arrives into T1, and I need a transit hotel. Are there any problems with this one? : Aerotel Transit Hotel, Terminal 1

SQ288 is the SIN-SYD service, arriving into Sydney Terminal 1.

I suspect you will be arriving/departing into SIN terminal 3 (or possibly 2) if you need a transit hotel in Singapore.

But they are all fine, I'd say the equivalent of a Novotel in terms of room standard.

Thanks, I hope SQ 288 is CBR-SIN. 6 hours is all I need as I have access to the TPR.

So LX F update. The lounge was very good and I’m not sure if it was the different menu to the TPR or it just felt more spacious ( windows to the world and a viewing balcony) but I really liked it. The massive wine fridge in the entrance was also impressive.
I’m mid flight just now over India using the free 50mb internet voucher.
The bed was excellent comfort wise with mattress etc and I didn’t feel overly hot under the bed linen. I must say I was pretty tired after a weeks skiing in the alps. It’s strange though I’m on a 777ER and it all just feels a bit more cramped than an SQ F cabin on the same plane. The toilets are smaller making it a little cramped changing into your pjs. The F suite is quite angular and boxy and to close the privacy door entails opening your mini closet door so all your clothes you’ve neatly packed away get knocked around.
The IFE seems fairly functional with a reasonable selection but nothing like the vast array you find on kris world. The noise cancelling headphones are not up to the Bose/SQ F standard.
The service has been quite reserved with the crew pleasant and efficient but just a bit “sterile”
Food ok so far but my chicken breast was a little dry. Wine list good and the bubbles -Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle - were fantastic.
La prairie products in the amenity kit are perfect. Very swiss, do the job with minimal fuss and minimal smell.
Overall very good. Better than my experiences on Etihad F but you can see why SQ wins awards and Swiss just make up the numbers. Any questions whilst I’m on board just ask and I’ll try to answer so long as my internet voucher doesn’t run out the data charges are extreme.
Cheers Danger UXB

Send us a 5min tour video of the cabin!.... just kidding... dont!

Some would describe this as service, Swiss 'socialist' style :D

It's a big contrast between Euro and Asian carriers. LH and LX make SQ feel a bit like Emirates by comparison.

Grab IFM if you can and ask exactly what details they can see on pax profile on their iPads?
Christ CE not very talkative this Swiss mob. So yes it’s a tablet. Not much info really.
Final destination
Status
Preferences like pj size, food preferences , seat preference etc if you fly a lot with them.
Just standard stuff as far as I could gather but they weren’t very forth coming ( Swiss socialist as MT put it )
Anything in particular you thought they should have ??

Nope that is about the extent of what any flight crew on any airline will know about pax - cough like ‘they know everything about you’ or ‘that they know if you are flying on a Comm or Rdpt tix’ just that - cough = FAKE NEWS - Tks for doing that Danger

Can you ‘Pauline’ that for us MEL?

LH and LX are fairly reserved. If you were to directly connect from LX to SQ the latter would feel a bit like most passenger's first impressions of flying EK (with that 'bling' atmosphere). Much more proactive and engaging and a bit more 'flair'.

The ipad is a different beast to the passenger manifest and any other information the gate agent may pass on. Details of upgrades, especially op-ups would not necessarily be on the ipad, but would be available by other sources.

Award v paid ticket is of no concern to crew. Upgrades and op-ups may be.

Awesome. You might even have been booked in a revenue fare bucket ;)
SQ now have B&O headphones in F and R, FWIW.

Where were you skiing? How did you transfer to GVA? Thinking of doing that next year.

Off Swiss now and in the TPR. Just shows you how observant I am. Flew suites MEL LHR last week and didn’t realise the cans on my head were B and O and not Bose.
The ski trip is a yearly NOWAK ( no wives and kids ) with mates from uni who own an apartment in Les Arcs so we always hire a car at GVA. Also did a day trip to Val Thorens in 3 valleys as well. I have also used a number of private transfer services in the past. Standard merc mini van cost around the 250 euro mark one way. ( I assume this is what you meant by GVA transfer )

Recently took SQ25 JFK-FRA-SIN in Suites. Had the steak out of JFK which was great and Suckling pig in beer sauce (BTC) out of Frankfurt which was amazing. Had the "German breakfast" with scrambled egg into Sin. The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at JFK is really worth turning up early for. Full table service with an extensive coughtail and food menu. Checkin opens 6 hours before the flight so I got there 5 hours early....

No Krug available on either sector which was quite disappointing. I noticed the menu said Krug OR DomIMG_1158.jpg IMG_1156.jpgIMG_1165.jpg IMG_1160.jpgIMG_1161.jpgIMG_1163.jpgIMG_1164.jpg
