SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I think you booked not so long ago - about how far in advance was that and on which route?

CDG-SIN-SYD ... old and new suites. Flight is early May.

I also was seconds away from booking SYD-SIN-SYD ... new suites, but decided to see what QF could offer. They released 2 x F SYD-LAX- (J) - JFK, so booked that instead. This flight is Sept.

I have P1 status with QFF, but nothing with KF..... KF looks to be clearly the better option for availability.

Am I the only person on the planet who refuses to use that rediculous Automatic Payment System to pay for phone rdpt bookings? It has malfunctioned so many times I now refuse to even try to use it?

I have done a few phone bookings (usually actually paying the cancellation fee) with automated payment system and not had any issues.

Does anyone know if 18D and F on the A380 with upper level economy at the back are bulkhead seats with full sized foot rest?

My wife and I had these seats on SQ231 just a few days ago (old fitout). Yes there is a full width flip down foot rest so no foot cubby hole. Im not sure why the seat isnt considered a bulkhead? Ive never had a bulkhead seat to compare.

I've tried searching, but cannot find any timeframe for the full A380 refurb for SQ. Does anyone know when they plan to have them all converted to new Suites?

We booked SYD-SIN next March, but are on SQ222, listing as old Suites. We booked seats 1F and 2F, as it seems that is how they allocated the seats on the change of aircraft when our last flight went from old to new suites (we were in the double and got moved to the suites that couldn't adjoin on the new fit-out.

On another note, we continue on SIN - LAX and wanted 11D and F, they were blocked, but the reservations agent sent the "seat controller" a message and they were assigned in less than an hour to us.

I love SQ.

Personally I would prefer there were no more of the hideous new Suites

I should know the answer to this... but can I change the departure city whilst keeping one leg the same?

Eg. Currently booked USM-SIN-MEL on a particular day. Want to change it to be KIX-SIN-MEL, with the SIN-MEL leg being exactly the same flight that I've got confirmed on the USM-SIN-MEL ticket.

Not fussed about change fees - relatively minor, but its crucial we keep the SIN-MEL flight as nothing is at saver level around that date - the KIX-SIN leg is also at saver rate, so no issue there.

Yup have had 3 gos at them - hideous - have 2 x SYD-SIN-ZHR new R all the way booked June 9 to give the Ette a taste of them - availability a nightmare - give me 12 x R cabin every day of the week.

We actually liked them. I had a good nap going to SIN (day flight). BUT, I don't mind the older suites either. We would just like to have the shared suite on the new config just to experience it.

What didn't you like? Facing the person across from you when eating looks like the worst part.

That’s an interesting response, CE.

Maybe I’ve missed your earlier comments on the new fitout but, if you haven’t previously gone into more detail, could you outline what the negatives were?

If you have, could you give a nudge in the direction of your relevant post/s?:)

CE isn’t alone... it’s all over the net. The seats themselves aren’t the best... leg rest that is too short, not that easy to get comfortable, awkward positioning for certain activities, facing the person in the opposite suite for meals.
