SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Ok thanks, I’ll check that out. Except, there’s no F SIN-EWR sadly.

What's the difference between SIN-EWR, that SQ already flies non-stop, and SIN-JFK, as far as an award booking is concerned? I prefer EWR as an arrival airport in NY.

With the current fleet there is and will be no F on any non stop SQ flight to east coast USA because they will all be the ULR 350.

I dislike the 350 J seats. Never complained about SQ seats until I sat in one of these (350-900) for 14hrs. Terrible

after suites I've had my best sleep on the A350, SIN to MUC and back

I just snagged F x CBR - JFK for next May. The SIN ~ 18 hours in SIN is a real pain for me, but it’s the only way to cut out o/n stays in SYD in case of fog. It departs CBR at 2315 which gives the whole day to prepare.

for 2x?

If i book Syd-Sin-Cph/Fra etc when it first becomes available....and then later on, a Lh/Sas flight to Kef becomes available, can i ring Sq to add that sector to Kef to my previous booking so it is all on one PNR (for protection purposes in case the inbound is late)?
I asked the above Q in another thread, but thought I might post on this thread as well for more visibility and thoughts :)

Hi a kind friend has added me as a redemption nominee. When it comes to making a flight booking, how does he make the booking in my name and not his. Thanks

Did SIN-DPS few weeks ago and missed my flight from DPS-SIN, which was booked on the new 787. $300USDx2 later, I'm booked later that night luckily as I had a SIN-HKG flight the next morning. Silly me thought our flight was at 8pm when it was actually at 1pm.

Anwwho, upon rocking up to DPS, we find out our plane is now the new 787. I was looking at flights 1-2 months ago and it was still showing up as the old 330 and looking at current flights, sq947 is still on the 787. Looks like DPS now has 2 787s flying that route. Personally, I semi-prefer the old 330 as there was a bit more room to sit in and seats felt bit more comfy. However I was in 11A with bubs, and she had a table (where the bassinet goes) to play/draw on. That was the only plus for me. The wife was in 12A and she's 7 months pregnant so it was a struggle getting into her seat as the path between seats was a bit narrow, but she loved the lie flat for those 1-2 bliss hours of sleep.

Also flew S856/861 SIN-HKG on the new suites. We were both very impressed. Very spacious, lots of floor space, lots of storage, very private, very spacious toilets. The bed felt a bit firm and seemed a bit high for me compared to the old one. Still unsure about the seat, not as wide as old ones. Definitely don't like sitting in 1A as you've got to turn from the the forward facing tv screen during taxi/take off/landing to the main screen which is at the 4/5 o'clock position. The seat also much be in one of 3/4 designated positions (Facing Window, Front, TV, Dinner) before you can recline etc. Food service was great, you can choose to keep door open or closed as the FA will open/close each time they come in. Bubs loved the space as she could play on the floor (~2-4sqm of floor space) compared to old suites (~0.5-1 sqm).

Just booked LAX-SIN-SYD on SQ from converting VA points for early May next year coming home from Easter holiday. 121k via SIN or 129k if direct on United (KrisFlyer miles). United has less availabilty also. Virgin would provide the best value for redemption but not holding out for availability. It's a good placeholder for now anyway in case a direct flight doesn't come up later.
