SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Unfortunately SQ seem to have reneged on waiving my previous award cancellation fees and there's $166 of cancellation fees on my Amex card :(.
Agent you spoke to initially re this matter agreed to waive the fees? If YES then you know who to call - all calls are recorded so it can be checked.

so family mmebers have flights coming up in less than a week, waitlisted for about 6-8 months in F, they also have confirmed J for this flight

shall we just cancel the F waitlist and give someone else a chance to get theirs filled in , or shall we wait until the last minute to cancel?

does less than a week waitlists ever clear?

Yes, I'll give them a ring when I'm feeling a bit better; in meantime I have the forward flights sorted. Need to look for ATH-MEL in a couple weeks.

What is minimum time you lot would check in flying F from SYD?

Hour before flight?

I really depends on your level of comfort cutting it that fine (like what if something happens on the way to the airport?).

I'f I'm not intending on using a lounge I aim for about 75 mins. Time for check-in, security, and 20 mins left over before boarding.

I was planning on having a nice (but quickish) lunch somewhere before 3pm flight but maybe I don't bother. Don't want to be stressed about time when there is no real need.

Can somebody please advise what the immi and q. process is on arrival in SYD transit before getting back on to go to CBR?
(JFK - FRA - SIN - SYD - CBR in F).

Call Singapore Airlines, ask them to review the booking and ask their advice. They may send off the bookings to someone o=in yield management, or may advase you there is little or no chance of the waitlist clearing.
thanks for that, will do,

ive asked for 2 chasers previously, im not expecting it to clear, but would be nice to know whats happening so Ican cancel if need to and not worry about forgetting about it

I don’t think there’s any harm in leaving waitlist in place and forgetting about it?

yep, tried just then,
sending another chaser, no advice except keep waiting

not a big deal,
they also said Icould cancel any confirmed bookings up to 4hours before, penalty USD $75

Seems like the best way to secure R flights to Europe is to book ex SYD.
Lots of availability for 2 pax ex SYD.
Just annoying I have to fly MEL-SYD first, but worth it I guess :)
