Sorry - my ask was very vague. Was more thinking the status of the renovations at SIN.

I had SYD-SIN-CPT booked for next year and it seems SQ are dropping CPT down to one day a week. Not a massive drama, but it's left me with a 30 hour connection in SIN. Just spent an hour waiting to speak to somebody and asked them to reaccommodate me on SQ222 a day later (so I stick with the standard 4 hour connection) and was flat out refused on the basis of "no award inventory". I've usually found airlines to open up a seat when it's a cancellation... the staff member did seem quite dense so I'm wondering if I bother with HUACA or just accept the night stop. Is it normal for SQ to play hard with award inventory like that?

I would call again. Should be fairly straight forward, if they get stuck refer to their conditions of carriage on schedule changes.

Called back again. Same response from the first agent. She was really hopeless and struggled to understand what I was asking. Initially said SQ222 wasn’t operating at all, then I sent a screenshot clearly showing they were selling tickets and she flicked back into revenue vs award again.

Got through to a supervisor who was equally useless but at least it clicked in his head. Couldn’t do it, but said he’d email the “flight controller” and ask them to review it “but no guarantees” and someone would call me.

I see in my app now that it’s been fixed. No communication though.

SQ service always used to be pretty good…

I think theyve onboarded a lot of new call centre staff.Have been talking to them that a bit over the last few weeks and agree that something just feels off, and wait times are up to an hour even as KFEG. Give it some time I guess…

Going to the flight controller (yield management) is ok :) Same same as ringing QF and asking them to release an award seat, they send it off to yield control or whatever.

I would confirm that the new flight combination is ticketed.

Oh yeah no issue with that. Just shouldn’t have taken 3 people and 2 hours to get there!

All ticketed so it seems it’s been fixed. I get the feeling they may have moved to a new contractor in the Philippines as even the supervisors are pretty useless.

I’ve been told that the original Singapore based agents no longer exist and that the Philippines call centre is the only way forward. It’s such a shame, the Singapore based agents were so courteous and professional.

My experience with the Philippines call centre has been less than stellar. I find that many of them are lacking common sense, have poor English, and the audio connection is poor quality and often drops out. All of this just to save a few bucks (In the scheme of things).

Some of you are hard to please. Started to type this before the above post that partly echos my thoughts. SQ has maintained some flights with 20 pax into various Australian ports for the period of the pandemic while losing millions of dollars - even if supported by Singapore Government. They are just starting to re-start operations into many markets and dealing with rule changes on a daily or weekly basis.

There are still some SIN staff working from home so no wonder there are some gaps in their service delivery. I'll be a lot less forgiving after Chinese New Year but prepared to cut them some slack in the meantime. I know I might be challenged as an apologist for SQ but they have been very good to me over many years.

Have booked in Melbourne to Singapore in Business class on points for partner and I for December. Still trying to find a connection through to coughet but may have to book that one separately.

Secured 1 x R Adv SYD-SIN-LHR May 28, 2022 - WL 2nd seat - emailed an old KF contact to try to shake the trees - then the wait for rdpt inventory to load ex FRA or ZRH for late June, 2022 when those routes open up - ‘the ol’ grey mare just ain’t what she used to be’ huh?

TBH I was a bit surprised this opp popped up - I can also see 1 x R Adv available SYD-SIN-LHR about Jun 9 or 10 if anybody interested.

If we can’t secure 2 x R rdpts to/fro I am happy to buy 1 comm tix to make it all work. SYD-SIN sector is in old R which is a bit surprising but that might well change b4 dep.

I really doubt we will see much R saver availability until full schedule back up and running - but who knows if and when that might be.

interesting, because I havnt been able to book HBA, via SYD or MEL, to LHR in revenue R for April so far. cud be it’s the Domestic J leg the system doesn’t like, but bggrd if I’m going to jump on the phone yet, given less than salutary experiences observed above.

Also bggrd if I shud be adding to the sudden pile-on of bookings. One of the Zurich axioms of investment was always dont do what the other bloke is doing..

Phone service has been pretty bad. Long wait times and told that I can't be transferred to a different department they have to call me back within 24/48 hours.

i believe at the moment that you can’t transit Singapore unless you meet the Singapore transit requirements. That’s means a single itinerary...
I think you’d be fine if you fly SG to coughet and get them to join the segments (and check luggage through to destination).
im trying to do the same thing from LHR to BKK and I’ve got the J LHR-SIN leg booked on points.

I was told on the phone that you cant have 2 PNRs for the transit (I wanted to combine a J award into SIN with a SIN-SYD revenue)
