SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

just transfer on 1st Feb 2022, you need minimum 10,000 KF miles per transfer, so 20,000 Dragon points.
SQ keeps points alive till the end of that month anyway

Its what I'm planning to do anyway

I think he means to get the Elite Gold Status. So 250,000 KF points to gain that. For the promo points must arrive by 28th Feb.

Yeah but you can use different bank partners if you don't have enough points at one, minimum 10,000KF miles to transfer

Edit yeah 250k KF miles in total minimum

Anyone had success finding more than 3 saver/advantage J seats for next year?

I have not looked for next year. But over the years with SQ I often found that 3 was a limit for J on many long-haul routes in the one booking. As I was sometimes booking for 4 or 5 in my family that often meant booking different flights. Sometimes that could be hours apart on a busy route, but on others in had to be on consecutive days.

With Australia to SE Asia I could often book 4. The second flight from SIN to the destination city was often the bottleneck.

I once got 5. Possibly a glitch.

Yep, pre covid I've booked 5x J savers SYD to SIN and return on one ticket.

Had a massive chunk of refunded KF come through last year due to our MEL-SIN-(FRA)-JFK in R trip with LAX-SIN-MEL return in J being cancelled.

Just booked MEL-SIN-BLR and BLR-SIN-MEL on J Savers for April/May next year - very excited and can't wait. Only issue is the 16hr layover in SIN on the way back, but hopefully SIN will have relaxed the restrictions on roaming around the place in 6 months time... we'll wait and see.

First flight since March 2020 (Domestic and International). So pumped. Gotta love SQ for making J Savers available still - they very well could have closed it off. More and more reasons for staying loyal to SQ.

was just showing my son our last J trip in July 2019 when he was 2.25yrs old. this was the "new" A380.
born traveler lol. we got so many comments when ready to disembark from other pax.. "didn't realise we had a 2yo on board, so well behaved"

There was one flight where a lady walking to Y past J looked down at him and said "wish I was sitting where you're sitting!" and he just looked up and gave her the cheekiest grin lol, she had a bit of an African/American accent so I'm sure my son barely understood a word she said lol

Booked J savers same leg in Apr/May return to BLR - 2 for me and the kid and another for the wife. Good to see savers wide open. Also the waitlists are clearing quickly - as I had similar issue with a long layover. However, the waitlist for shorter layovers cleared in the last few days.

I’ve got Mel-Sin-Fra plus return on J saver in Dec/Jan.
Mel-Sin-Cgk plus return on J saver in April Easter/Anzac day period.
Mel-Sin-Fra on F saver and the return on F advantage.

Great to see J saver so easily available but sad that F saver and even advantage is pretty rare.
I’ll be slumming it in longhaul J for the first time in many years but I’m sure I’ll be enjoying it!

If restrictions are relaxed then you can go on a free half day tour (runs for each morning & afternoon) without having to go through customs & immigration. You visit 5 to 6 different sites and get let out to look/explore briefly (20-25 minutes) or so at each one. A very good way to get some idea of whether you want to have a longer stopover in Singapore in the future.

Just be prepared for a humidity hit with a possible change of clothes in your carry-ons!

Tried this out when doing a F return - chose longest possible stopover between same day flights to max out 'The Private Room' for breakfast, lunch & dinner experience. Went out on the morning tour after breakfast & returned for a slightly late lunch. Not something I'd recommend doing a second time - TPR was nice but did not need the trifecta.

However there is also a 'hidden food market' at the airport that you can get to (IIRC) without clearing customs - put off visting that to another visit. Local workers, air crew & those in the know use it but open to anyone. Massive range of food & not-airport prices.

Looks like there are similar markets in both T2 & T3.

That's awesome @Kimster - great to hear!

Regarding the waitlists, did you have to send a "chaser" to get them cleared or did they clear automatically?
If yes, how long between waitlisting and receiving confirmation?

Sorry for the questions - I waitlisted a couple of good options and then make a confirmed booking that had the 16hr layover as I didn't want to leave it to chance - would be better though to have the WL'd flights confirmed though and switch the confirmed booking to that.

Thanks heaps in advance!

Yes it was longhaul to Europe that was the problem.

MEL -SIN and onwards to parts of SE such as Vietnam, Thailand etc one could book larger groups. To Western Europe a cap of 3 per booking often seemed to apply.
