SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes is back, offering you more adventures and bigger savings for your last-minute escapades! Enjoy 30% off Saver award tickets to over 50 destinations worldwide on Singapore Airlines when you redeem your flights from now till 31 March 2022.

I had J Saver redemption bookings for Mrs Woodyren and I SIN-SYD in May.

Received this email today and found availability in the same flight for the promo. 43000 pts each. Still awaiting my refunds so I didn't have enough points to take advantage of this sensational deal.
After your detailed advice CE I thought I would take a risk. Cancelled my existing booking. Points instantly returned and now happily booked with the promo saving around 40K in points.

Need to cancel a redemption booking and am confused by mixed messages on krisflyer points refund which show on the cancellation page. One message saying zero points will be refunded and another saying all points will be refunded

Can someone please confirm the name of the hotel that's just outside Changi (not one of the 3 terminal hotels). Is it the Crowne? Many thanks,

I have F/R Rdpt MEL-SIN-FRA Mar 31 - 1st real intl flt since 11/12/2019 - lots of reports as to just how much the SQ exp has changed - I am happy to do a comprehensive TR if sufficient interest - first thing I notice is the very much trimmed down menus.

@Must…Fly posted a comprehensive post a couple weeks back - doesnt’t look to be much change - am happy to start with a full set of images of food offerings if you guys would like it.

I will be interested, we have no F/R travel in the near future only J as the route we are on do not offer F/R. I do have a truck load miles in the AMEX warehouse which could be transferred.

I am flying Sydney - Singapore - Frankfurt in 5 days (suites/first)
I am getting conflicting information regarding the need for a Covid test. We are fully vaccinated. SQ website seems to suggest no Covid test needed, but the email they sent us suggest test still required.

Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flight documentation requirements:

All passengers on a VTL-designated flight, must hold:
  1. a vaccination certificate in English, documenting they are fully vaccinated* with a vaccine on the World Health Organisation Emergency Use List. The vaccination certificate must be digitally verifiable (i.e contains a QR code for verification). For VTL travellers seeking entry into Singapore, the proof of vaccination must berecognised by the Singapore Government.
  2. a negative Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or Antigen Rapid Test (ART) result taken within two days prior to flight departure to Singapore, unless you have recently recovered from Covid-19 and holds a valid proof of recovery or discharge memo.

I believe that’s just if you’re getting off in Singapore. If Germany needs nothing, then you’re good to go.

Correct.

Presumably you’re on one booking through to FRA? There’s a requirement that bags are checked through (obviously you can’t collect and recheck without “entering” Singapore).

I’m out on Monday to the UK and only require my vax cert. I’ll be in Germany for Easter.

many thanks to you both
that's great news
when we flew to Europe in Jan, we had to wait 2 hrs for a Covid PCR test
looks like it will hopefully only get easier from now

I am in the same boat PB - I am pretty sure no test reqd for SIN transit but the conflicting info I am getting is for FRA entry

Definitely no test req’d for SIN transit. This page used to be quite confusing but was simplified a couple weeks ago with the rule changes. Pretty sure there are currently no “restricted” countries.

Here‘s the German entry requirements - which read like the SIN ones used to. I might be wrong, but the electronic forms and testing are only for PAX from “high risk areas”.

I‘m monitoring rules changes for Germany prior to popping over there in a few weeks.

A simple call to SQ MEL Office is all it took - Pernita is supervisor on duty at SQ MEL Check-in and she 100% 3 x triple confirms that IF you are fully vaxed and have your International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate with you then no PCR or RAT test is reqd for TRANSIT through SIN or arrival into FRA.

Given me locality and activities in days leading up to dep date this is a huge relief 👍

Good to know, I’m flying MEL-FRA in April.
So basically no covid test required pre-departure?

Will they let you use the Medicare certificate at all?
I'm helping with enquiries for an elderly uncle. Has the Australian one but issues with acquiring the international certificate.

Kangol I didn't as that so cannot answer - I will give them a call and ask

Edit: Kangol advice that Medicare Vaccination certificate would be OK for outbound but International Certificate reqd for return - hope that helps

Looks like a few of us going to FRA - I am heading there as it was the only First class seats I could find.
Still no 1st class / Private room in Singapore - that has been delayed by a few months.
PE - I can't believe you got through on the phone so easily. Is that a special number?
